folks just been reading the threads about this ESC and the other rebadged ones. I was thinking of getting 2 of them for a 6s Outboard tunnel. However i would like some thoughts on your setup.
Now I would like to know what peoples setups are that are fairly hot and have had success with the 180 ESC.
Now the tunnel setup will be either
6s/1p 1527/1.5d - 47mm - 50mm props
6s/1p 1527/1y - 50 - 52mm props
All props will have some work depending on motor to make the tunnel run
I am also thinking of a 1521/1y on 6s 45mm props
So if people would like to post their setups
motor with the T-180 or copy of that ESC with props (stock or worked) that would be good. Also average temps.
I'm also curious on this ESC... Word on the street is that sometimes its a hot setup, melting 5.5 soldering joints. Anyone have any experience? I'm looking to run one with a 1800kv motor in my MG on 5s or maybe the stock motor on 5s to 6s through that esc
I run mine with a castle 2434 1800kv outrunner on 4s in my Miss Geico. I have also ran another with a 1512 1800kv on 4s as well with no issues other than having to install a BEC in both. I run 4mm connectors on the power leads and 5.5mm on the motor leads. No issues yet.
I'm hoping to try 5 and 6s soon but I don't foresee any issues since it's not voltage that kills them, but amperage draw.
Still i am mainly after those who have pushed it with 6s setups.
Its looking like i might give it a go. I would like to stick with a better quality ESC but size restrictions and the fact that this boat wont be racing for about a year i would liket something cheap to get it running. But i dont what to have it smoke inside a tight space like in a Out board tunnel.
Im currently using it with 4S and have had no issues with it at all
Its got nice throttle response and has worked for the last 10 runs fine
My only concern is the caps on it can be accidently pushed over
also the wires come up from the board and can be slightly difficult to bend if you have a low hatch
I have the Sea King 180s (same unit) in my 54" Fountain running on 6s powering Leopard 5692's on 1p.
I am having one ESC shut down after 2 seconds of full throttle. I have made some adjustments but haven't tested yet. If I can get the one to stop shutting down they I think they are great ESC's
I swapped the ESC's and will test on 6s 2p and see what happens.

Hello David !
Haven't run one on 6S, but I figured out a way to shoehorn the T180 into a tight space : Banjo fittings from Kintec Racing screw right in & allow front/rear entry & exit of the cooling lines. Prototype-fitted it on a bonkered 180, then did the deal on my latest build - a Herb Stewart tunnel for P-Spec OPC. BTW "Tubby" gets raced again this Feb. in Az at Winter Warmups VII
Cheers,
Tony

How does your Geico run with the Castle outrunner?
