    2P or not 2P ...

All kidding aside a 2S2P is like having two 2S1P in parallel and doubles the mah. So if 1P is 5000 mah than a 2P will be 10000 mah.

    So what is better for long sport running ? A 2s 1p 30c 5400mah or 2s 2p 30c 5400mah

    Thank for input.

They are the same as far as power goes.

If you are only running 2S (7.4V), you buy TWO 2S 5400 packs and wire them in parallel. That gives you 10,800mAh. That is what you want for long running. The same goes for running 3S or 4S, etc., parallel two packs to double the mAh. The mAh determines the run time.

ALL single packs for the most part are 1P. S is for series. P is for parallel. Just look for packs that are 2S, 3S, 4S, etc. They are all considered 1P (another way to look at it without confusing you further is that 1P stands for 1 PACK. If you want 2P, 3P, 4P, etc., that is paralleling multiple packs.

Come on! This is NOT that difficult!

2s1p = 2cells in the pack wired in series to the connector. 2s2p = 4 cells in a pack ( 2 sets of 2 cells wired parallel) then wired in series to the connector. either way they perform the same task the same way. i dunno why some companies make 2s2p rather than 2s1p. 2s2p just means there is more room for error because there are more connections made to acheive the same result as 2s1p

I know venom makes some 3s 2p packs that have 6-cells shrink-wrapped together. Same as running 2-3s packs in paralell. Just together as one battery. I think these are more for single battery applications. Most rc boats require 2- batteries for proper weight distribution since the motor/stuffing tube sits right down the center.

Excellent information there as I had some questions also.

Just to be clear, if I want to double the mAh (longer run time) but keep the voltage the same I need to run two identical packs in parallel correct?

Do the batteries running in parallel need to be exactly the same? For example can one be a 5000 mAh 6s 40C and the other be the same but a 30C?

    Or maybe a 4000 mAh 6s 40C in parallel with a 5000 6s 40C?

Ideally it would be best to keep them the same because the amp ratings will be different on each pack. It will probably work, but if run down too low I'm not sure how the lvc on your speed control would see it and you might ruin the smaller pack. Lipos can be dangerous if not used correctly and if it were me I wouldn't chance it with that nice build and all that $$$ worth of components. JMO!

Gotcha, that makes sense about the LVC on the ESC. Damn......HK is out of the 5000 mAh 6s 40C Turnigy packs. I should have bought 4 from the get go instead of just 2.

Do not mix packs! Stay with identical, including from the same manufacturer. You're asking for trouble otherwise.

Anyplace else I can get Turnigy packs besides HK? The packs I need are back ordered.

That was some explanation about the difference between the 2s 1p and 2s 2p that even a “dumbo” like me could understand what all that was about!! I am sure that must helped a lot of people to really make up their builds about how they want to go about building their boats!!
