It's interesting. Knowing the manufacturing costs of these motors (or close to it), they are still making plenty of $$ off of these motors, but are now cashing in on their own name. That won't last forever, so I wonder what they have up their sleeve...

It's still a good deal. These motors are well worth the price, even at $200 each.

The fans don't hold up well on buggies/truggies due to the impact from jumping and crashing. They should do just fine IMO on boat motors though. I have a NIP one I guess I"ll have to give it a try.

Looks to me like the equivalent to the leopard 5692, which is already amazingly similar to the castles.

Jackets are not a problem if you dont mind waiting a couple of weeks. They have been in and out of stock since the big castle sale. I'm sure I will keep them as a active product for at least another year or so.

    If I eventually build a DF29 or equivalent on 4S...is the 1512 1800KV better or the 1518 1800KV?

Or should I just pony up a couple more bucks and go with a 1515 1Y or a 4074 2200KV?

All motors will work well. The 1512 has an 80 amp rating so you can get away with a 120 amp esc. The 1515 is probably the perfect motor for 4s. But its more than double the cost. I would opt for the 1518 and run it on 4-5s with a t-120. Probably overkill but you won't have any overheating issues and you can always use that combo in another larger hull later. JMO
