britscoot what do you mean lots of amps? its a 80 amp speedo.... I would leave it around that... I think its meant for smaller motors with low kv's.... and should run well on those... I wouldn't push it that hard (if It was me 10s max).... maybe a low kv outrunner would be good too.... but lets face it, its a 80amp speedo...... you don't wanna smelly boat do ya?

    i was thinking 1600kv outrunner on 6s2p.
or 1800kv castle on the same.

do you think it will take it?

I hope the 1800kv castle isn't a 1518 you are talking about... if so, NO.... I think the reason make a wake is able to get away with a 1515 is obviously because of the very low kv..... a 1800kv castle you should be running a 150 amp plus esc if its a 15XX series motor.... JMHO.... and you won't need a HV esc for a 1800kv... you should only need that hv esc for a under 1500kv motor...

I am sure the 8th and 7th scale guys, in the northwest might be able to shed some light. These are what they are using in the scorpion hk 4035 outrunners, on 8s1p. in the big boys.
Campbell brothers....might be able to speak up?

    Great advise once again!
my reason for questions about this esc is that its very small, physically.
I have very little room in my Fe30 and want to try 6s2p.I can get the lipos in the hull with
room for the 80a HV esc.
I have T180 and a 240 esc but they take up too much room.
I just found a 1100kv outrunner on my shelf so thats an option also.
The question is will i get the performance i'm looking for.A cool running fast hydro.

    cheers

THat is a big ass prop. Yet, the esc can run successfully on 447 and 450 props. It is all a matter of how we run the escs. For the money, this esc can run HV...and at a low cost. I am not going to say this esc wont be a pop tart in some setups...because we all know it will. It is a cheap hv esc. that many of the scale hydros are running on 8s.

Hope this helps, in some form or another.

Why not try the T120 speedo for only 49 bucks or the swordfish 120a Steven sells here if you're only going 6s

I've run one on 12s. Do the math on the volts/amps. 70 amps at 12s is about 3000 watts. Matches perfectly with a T600 880kv outrunner. Go SMALL on the prop. 38-40mm and have fun. I love my 12s apparition.

If you use less voltage, you will draw more amps and go up in smoke. Keep the cell count high and kv low. On 8s, you'll only get about 2000 watts for your 80 amps...

Also, 3000 watts is about 4hp. Plenty to move a mid-small sized cat.

Since you're running a small boat. Here's an idea.

I just set the NAMBA 2-lap S sport record a couple weeks ago with m 25" DarkHorse Picklefork running 8S 3800's, a Scorpion HK3026-1210 and a CC Ice 100. 38mm prop. All the equipment was cold after the run. 25.5 seconds. Only used 660 mah.

Put 6S in it and changed the prop then set the Q sport record.

That little Ice is pretty tough and it has data logging so you an actually see what everything is doing.

I wouldn't use it on the 1518, but the 36mm outrunners should work prety well with it.
