Default Lipo count for BEC for Swordfish 120

    Hi,
How many lipos can the BEC for a Swordfish 120 handle?
On a Castle Hydra 240 I think it is only 3S...

Just run a RX pack to be safe, and disconnect it. It's not worth the risk.

    Yeah, what he said.
You can run 4s on it, actually they can run on 6s, but you lessen the strain on the ESC by running an RX pack. I have ran the BEC on one before because of the lighter load I was running on it and I had problems with it so I ended up cutting the wire at the lake and running an RX pack.

I run an external UBEC (from the main packs) on my other boat-- I'll do the same with this ESC.
    Thanks,

I don't see all the fuss with running an extra UBEC. Why run a seperate one when one is already built into it. With the exception of castless hydra series most use a switching style BEC not linear like castle's. Maybe it was a good idea with older (linear) technology but not so much with the switching types. I run my internal BEC with all my boats up to 6s. I had one failure on a T180 while using the programming card go figure. That esc does NOT run any cooler than it did with its internal BEC.

If you insist use a seperate rx pack so you get clean power.

Let me rephrase the question then-- has anyone had a Swordfish 120 BEC fail?

Im running 4s and BEC internal on the 120. so far so good. If it fails, then Ill put on a castle.

We run BEC on small electric helis, running 4-5 servos, digital and a gyro, so 1 servo plus rx shouldnt be a big deal unless the internal BEC is crap.

anyone have different on swordfish? Im going to try the internal on my turnigy 120 as well.
