Wonder if an x442 will be a good prop choice for my 40" Vee with the 1717 on 6s..........???
At least a starting point....................

Maybe so................i was wanting to start on the small side..........check temps etc.............and work up. It may well end up being a 445, 447 or s225............thanks.
I hope to be able to go upto a S230 and possibly a S235

DISAR build a MHZ Racemaster, his hull is 1 meter long like the Fountain. A Castle 1717 on 6S will give too much RPM, I think 5S will be ok, around 30000RPM, 5S 2P (parallel) should be a nice setup

What do you think about this hardware, lenght is 9cm ( 3,6"), is it enough for a 39" hull?
This hardware is expensive, If you have links to cheaper hardware that' s great

The prop distance behind the hull is one big question. normally is 10%, but when I asked MHZ for the racemaster they said 55mm which is quite small I believe. I have it at 85mm and I use the eco trimax but I think that the speedmaster stinger is far better. I recommend the speedmaster stinger, very good quality, 83mm length and cheaper. 3/16 flex, teflon and 9/32" tube. the teflon just fits in the stinger very nicely.
If you want longer distance you can install a distance piece on the transom or elongate the stinger, but need to find out how ...

I guess the 442 was too small, took my first run with my 40" fountain with the 1717 on 6s. Ran very well.............not a huge speed difference from the Feigao 580L but definately faster.............the thing is though, the 580L would come in at 125*, and the ESC fairly warm too. This motor came in after a 3 minute run at 78*..........yep...........78*. ESC was 83* and caps 89*, its a Seaking 180. This big boy wasnt even loaded up and i imagine that loading it would wake it up. I think the s230 mentioned by Brushless55 would be a good fit...........that or an Octura x447. I'll play with it.................
That motor will spin a MUCH bigger prop!
Good luck with the Seaking on 6s though.

Steve has jackets in stock now!
Are you talking about this 3/16" Speedmaster Stinger Strut? http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...os-stinger-str
What 3/16" prop shaft and what 3/16" flex shaft work fine with the Speedmaster Stinger?
Thanks
Alfa yes, this stinger, I believe that you have all the items needed for the shafting.

Alfa :
The Speedmaster Stinger is even better than the others.
Why ?
You can adjust not only the angle, but also the HIGHT of the shaft !
Lenght : 10% is not a "rule".
Works well on stepped mono's with a SAW-setup.
For a normal setup/hull you don't necesseraly need 10%
The Castle 1717 with his water jacket is a monster, great !!
Parts of hardware are on order The flexshaft and the coupler come from Dave Marles, out of stock at OSE

Have this hull on the way for my Castle 1717. The old hull wasnt performing to my liking. Gonna run it on 6s............its 39.5".
Question is, which prop? I'm thinking in the x445, x447, x642, x645 range. Any suggestions are very welcome and appreciated!
I think the x452. Those props are kinda small for a hull that size. I ran the m545 on a castle 2200 with no heat issues. The 1717 will push those props without breaking a sweat!
OK...........seems kinda big, but thats why i asked. Thanks!
I need help guys, how many rudders for the MHZ Fountain? I think that I will install two rudders for stability, what do you think?
If it is the thunder tiger OBL, it can do well with small props as well. I ve seen one with a prather 220 and a 642. Depends on the position of the strut, if it is low small props can work, if it is high you need bigger props.
Depends also on your esc, 225,230,445,645 are definately safe, then if temps-amps are ok bigger ones can be used

Thanks DISAR................ got my hull in, got all the parts too.................just gotta pace myself as i tend to wanna rush things a bit and i want this to be as close to perfect as i can get it.
Not trying to hijack your thread alpha..........we both have 39" mono's with 1717 power and i thought id share mine as well.
I think yours make for 4 of us building a 39-40" mono with CC1717 power
