steve: I have the 120 and someone said to not run it with the bec connected when running 6s and to run a sepret bec, so can the 120 bec handle 6s.
My (future) setup: 36" Vee, Leopard 4082 1500kv, 6s2p, 44mm prop
Swordfish 200amp or the Seaking 180A?
Which whould you guys go for in my position? The Seaking has a much higher burst rating at 360a versus the Swordfish' 230a.
This is my first time buying a boat ESC, or a brushless one for that matter. I dont want to get one then realise I should have bought the other one lol. I'm leaning towards the Swordfish for its compact size and higher continues amp rate. But I cant ignore the Seaking's amp burst rating..
HELP!
Neither. Get an esc rated above 6s, to run 6s reliably.
Both say they are rated to 6s... but you dont think they will cope? Any suggestions?
I've had bad experience, so have many others running esc's to the max specs. It just isn't a good idea.
Fair play mate. Can you recommend an alternative?
its going to be funny when these sell out in one day...i gotta admit i was on it real quick..i love the choices that are availiable now..i will probably get a hydra ice when they come out too..i like these swordfish esc's a lot they have been great for me so far..
"FE" STANDS FOR FRUSTRATING EXPLOSIONS
Would it be smart to add some capacitors to the Swordfish 200amp LV, I have some 35v 1000uf capacitors I was thinking of 1 or 2, the Swordfish will go in a DF 33 with a 1515/1Y on 4S2P with a Octura X 442, a little feed back would help out. THANKS
Does it have D2pak FETs like the 240 and is it a 2 layer board?
The photo's don't tell much.
We can say what ever you want us to say....
Weren't you warned....?

I agree. I run all my setups at less than advertised. I know that they will run at the rating. But for how long. Longevity is my keep to running on a budget. I try to get many years out of them.

Ok, well only say it if its true then haha
I would like an ESC that can handle more than 6s safely, but there seems to be a massive price jump to those units.
I understand that running something on its limit is not a good idea for longevity, thats why I havent just bought one and gone for it.
If adding capacitors to it can solve the issue I'll go with that, if not I'll have to keep looking for a different ECU that can safely run 6s and be in my price range.
Its a real pain TBH as I think I have everything else sorted now, just cant find the right ESC...
What is the max amps rating? continous 200A, max?

I beleive its 200amp continuous and 230amp burst.
Will these be back in stock anytime soon?
About 2-3 weeks.

So whats the verdict on these guys? will they hold up on a P-mono setup or maybe a N2 mono setup with a 1515 in it. looking for a back up for a castle 240
JAson Sims
I've got a castle creations 1517 1800KV, planning to run 4S2P and also 5S2P, prop range x642 to x646. Do you think this controller will handle it?
Thanks,
Chief
I got the 200A but I noticed the following "problem". When running at full throttle and want to reduce speed in a turn for example, I leave the throttle to go back to neutral but there is a small delay in response, the boat delays 1-2 secs to reduce speed and still runs at full throtle. It is quite incovenient and I loose some control of the boat. I noticed the same with the HV240, but not with the 120.
Some of my other colleagues have the same issue, has anybody noticed that? Is there a solution?
Many thanks in advance....
