Check out the size of this Leopard 5692 Motor, in comparison to a Neu 2215. Wow!
Has anyone seen any performance stats to compare the two?

Thanks Danny. I have been wanting to see a comparison. I have a Leopard 730kv on the way. I am going to run it on 10s in a 40" Insane Cat. You must have some pull to get a water jacket for that baby.......wish I had those connections!!!

I found that pic in an extensive google search. I wish I had both motors to take this pic, let alone the jacket!

I prefer to use high voltage setups. Easier on equipment and longer runtimes . Don't get me wrong tho sometimes on my smaller hydros and riggers I run high kv motors with low voltage but reliability is not there. On the setup you suggested with the 1000kv motor on 6s that just wouldn't work. The 1390kv motor would be better on 6s. 1000kv is better suited for 7s-8s depending on hull type. My Leopard is going in a Gen1 Insane Cat, it'll draw way more amps than a hydro that's for sure.

One of those motors would look great in my Baja 5B!

HAHAHAHA Nice save! You don't want to give them away!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jeff Wohlt made me a sweet @$$ coupler for the Leopard I just got in. Perfect fit might I add. I have never been a big fan of set screw couplers but a little flat spot on the flexshaft will do just fine. I will be putting in on a .250 drive line so there is nothing available at the present but I did call Octura and put in a good word as per Steven. It may help to speed up the process. In the meantime this one is doing a good job.

Hello TTH
Have you already spinned the motor with the speed controller?
I say this beacause i have one, and the schulze 32 200 didn´t drive it correctly past 3/4 trohttle...It starts stuttering at this throttle range.....
I received now a new YGE 160 NAVY HV, and it drives it, but only at 0º timming
Have you already tried that,an input from you would be very valuable!
Best Regards
Gerardo I was aware of your issues with the motor and the Schulze controller already. I only bench tested with a Castle Hydra HV180. Everything ran fine but I don't throttle up much without a load on the motor. I may give it a shot on the Schulze and report back to you.

Gerardo do you know if YGE still makes the High Voltage 360a controller? I cannot find much info on them?

Hello TTH
I would appreciate if you clould test the motor with 8S and with the schulze controller in order to give me an input! It would be priceless, since we aren´t many who have this motor and schulze speed controllers....As soon as you can give it a try, give an input!I´m saying this, because i received 4 months ago a sample from them to test,payed..of course.....
The motor never worked with mine schulze, no motor what set up i inputted, or defined..On the bench, it never went to water!!!!
After 3/4 throttle it start's stutering, and i would likt o have an input from anyone who have one in order to dicover if mine motor is defective,or if schulze simple doesn´t work with the leopard....
tth Gerardo do you know if YGE still makes the High Voltage 360a controller? I cannot find much info on them?
I never knewed that YGE made a 360Amp HV speed controller!
I had a YGE200, that it was at the time the most powerfull from them...
They had also a YGE180HVand a 160 HV in a different "powerboard", but they were discontinuated.....
THe highest you can have from them, is a special version that can handle 320 AMP and 14S wich is available by special order to them with a price of around 750$that´s with you..
Contact YGE through their website.....
Regards to all ))
holly crap!
now that's an ESC!
320amps x14s = 16,576w = 22.22HP
it looks so tiny!
what are the measurements Gerardo?

Hello Ub HAlued!
Tubo bem com voçê?
I will give mine opinion.....
The YGE320HV is mostly suited to F5B and other type of very fast sailplanes or high speed planes.
I believe that is current capability, mention BELIEVE, it is based on full throttle for small amounts of seconds.
I say this beacause,it has low thermal mass for dissipating heat, a lot more less then, like example, the schultze 303 or 300....
While you are at full throttle, you only have conduction losses, wich is the rds on of the FETS divided by the number of fets..
The problem is when you aren´t at full throttle, you have the the mix of conduction and switching losses, and here you have a lot more heat for being dissipated...this is where the thermal mass of the "powerboard" helps dissipating the heat.
In mine opinion if it where to choose, for a high power boat, between the schultze 40 303 or the YGE320HV i would go for the schultze..but this is only mine opinion!
Regards
Tudo beleza! E com voce?
Well, I am a bit frustrated with the ESC situation for boats, that's why I "want to believe" that there is something that's out there perfectly suited for high current draw applications...
Castle in the beginning was great, willing to help us, then the kinda faded as the years went by... I asked them about a "special" Hydra 360 and never even got a response from them... not to mention that new ESCs for boats are so far back in the burner that it takes ages for them to even be willing to touch it, I guess "money talks", and I understand that, kind of.
That's why I am so bummed about the ESC situation, having only one reliable brand is not a market, it's a monopoly.
Before people start burning me, I just wanna state that this is only my opinion and opinions may vary.

The Jetti Spin 300 is a viable option too. Can be purchased with large water cooling heat sinks on the power boards.

Where do you see on the Jeti site that water cooled heat sinks are available? Couldn't find any mention of it.

You need to contact them directly about the plates. Its not an option from Hobby Lobby or anyone else carrying them that I know of. The Euro crowd has place to get them from. Someone posted here on OSE earlier this year, I cant remember who it was, with the ESC having the water cooling plates. Looked sweet!

Would this motor blow a Turnigy 180 esc?

Like Rumdog said, it will need more then 6S for the motor to "get on the pipe"..If you what i mean
And since the turnigy 180 has a upper limit of 6S...you get the point...
With mine LB5692 1090KV i was thinking about using with 10S, but i think i´m above the limit...So i´m going to try it with 8S....
I´m curious to see the difference between mine rigger with the scorpion 4035 800KV and the LB5692 with 8S
Very Best Regards
