    Default Project Red Evo

I just received a Red Evo hydro from HK. I took it out for a test and I am impressed with how stable it is but not overly impressed with the speed. I would guess maybe 25 mph max. It came with a 32 mm 1.4 prop not the advertised 36mm 1.4.
Any way I sold my surge flusher but happen to have a Turnigy Typhoon 500H Heli Motor 1800kv left over.
So I am going to build the Red Evo with the outrunner and 6s lipo.
    should produce some decent speed.
going to have to reinforce the hull and upgrade the shaft.
    will add some pictures soon.

I do have one question though would a 120a esc be enough or should I go bigger ?

6s on that size hull is stupid, 4s would be the maximum that you should run on that size hull.

The motor you have would be ideal.

If you' ve got good batterie 3S 5000mAh first try other props and after upgrade the motor, TYPHOON or Leopard.

    I like this hull

The 120a is MORE than enough..........a 90a would be fine. 4s is plenty as well............i would suggest a 380 28x58 or 28x68 in the 1900-2200kv range.

It comes stock with a 28x48 2636kv motor..............

This would be an upgrade in power on 4s: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...hless_Inrunner

    or a Feigao 380 12xl (28x67)at 2076kv...................

So far I have installed a 90amp esc that I had left over from the surge crusher and reinforced the back of the boat where the rudder and strut mount as it was very thin.
After taking it out for one run I noticed a hair line crack in the paint. Also there was a little more flex where the rudder mounts then i liked.
so a few layers on thin fiberglass it stiffened right up.
next I am going to try a few different props while waiting for drive line parts.

Any suggestions on driveshaft and hanger ?
I want to stick with 4mm as that is what is in my other boats.

These show what I got for space.
not lots but they fit. weight could definitely be an issue

I think running this on 4s would rip with the right prop!

Nice Video defiantly way faster than the stock setup on the Red Evo.
I am going to try a larger prop on the stock set up today well see how it goes.

I already have the 1800kv typhoon so I will start with that.

Although reading the reviews on HK it seems that it measure's more like a 2000kv motor

I am starting to rethink the typhoon motor may be a little much for this boat.
I just put one in my Apparition and wow this has a load of torque.
going out for test runs tonight will try to get a video of it.

22" Hydro, may I add some suggestions:

    Ammo 2300 on 4s.

Leopard 4050 on 4s. (ignor the photo kv rating)

UL-1 power on 4s, which would be my #1 suggestion.

    SV on 4s or 5s

Thanks for the input I have only had boats for a couple months so I am still learning lots.

I did some testing with the typhoon in my Apparition I think it may be a little much for the Evo. I tried to get a video if it but the camera man messed up and all I got is a 3 second clip of the boat coming to shore

I agree I think that motor maybe to much for this little hydro, to much torque. The ammo 2300 and a 36-40mm lifting prop may work well on this boat. First thing I would personnally do is search DF Vortex hulls on this site and find what people are running and then base my choice from that. This is just a vortex copy. If it's running the nightmare 4mm drive system ax that ASAP and run a Hughey JMO
