IMO for a 36" cat a 5682 is just more than enough, or a twin drive using two 4074s would be better in torque roll control.
what esc do you think ill need to power this motor and how fast do you think it will get me?
a 36" cat is a bit beyond me, not sure on motor size the 5692 would certanly do the job but not sure if its to big. the 1340 kv would be great on 6s.
anyone one else got suggestions ???
The 2 4074 would be nice if you want a twin.
I think the leopard motors are a good choice. I know the neu's are the best, but the larger ones get a little pricey for me.
the 5692 seems a rather large can but kv suggests a 6s motor,do you think its to big for a 36" hull ?
I've had one in my hand it's a huge motor!
the op pm,d me and asked for motor suggestions, but i haven't done anything over 32"
i thought the 5692 1340kv would be spot on but wasnt 100% sure.
told him to throw up a thread see what you guys thought
1717 castle nue
turnigt 180
i think my cat is going to be a little heavy i haven't weight it yet but it feels 3.5 pounds just the hull is that considered lite or heavy for this size and i want to go the 60+mph .
The 5692 is too big in my opinion.......the 4 pole leopard 40-74 1400kv on 6s would work well
or..........better yet a Castle/Neu 1520 1y on 6s.

Since you are building a scratch or home built cat you have all the weight controlling factors in your own hands. You could use exotic materials or normal ply over sectional trusses or stringers. But I dont think 3 lbs for a bare hull that size is excessive. I have a Dumas hydro made of plywood about the same size and its more like 6 pounds empty. On a Neu 1527 and 8S its right at home in the 50's and if I like to prop up it will run the 60's. My guesstimate about the 5692 is its similar in power to a 1527. But putting opinion to water is the true test.
Who knows. In 3 or 4 months I might be a rambling fool or a praising expert. Wont know until the prop gets wet! And then theres the other guys doing what I am doing. Taking the plunge!

.NAMBA20...Caterpillar UL-1, P-Spec OM29, P-Mono DF33, P-Spec JAE, Aussie 33" Hydro-LSH, Sprintcat CC2028 on 8s, PT SS45 Q Hydro, PS295 UL-1 power, OSE Brothers Outlaw QMono 4-sale, Rio 51z CC2028 on 8s
IMO,twin cats are cool, but its twice the money.I say run two Leopards on 6s each.Nice, cool running.Chances are high that Ill twin my 37"Drifter L with two 1650kv on 6s.And use two 180 Turnigys. The motors and esc's dont have to work as hard,so they stay cooler and you can still go fast.Which,to me would be good for a big hull.My EKOS is twin, and I love it.Nothing gets over 116 degrees and so far its running 56mph.
i run a 180 on 6s on a 1515 and a aquastar 120(swordfish 120) on a 1415
136 for an unproven motor ?? castle for sure
EMS was $26 for 2 motors delivered to me. Guy's,...........be carefull here on these topics referencing other motor vendors. Steve/OSE is a business. He is going to carry these motors soon. PM info to others asking motor costs. Its not fair for OSE to provide and pay for this forum and then advertise who under cuts him on his very own pages.
I know it would piss me off if I ran a free web site and business was being redirected in public view for all to see. Have some sensitivity at least.
