    Angry widomaker and lipos

this is direct from proboat about the widowmaker battery's
    HI Todd,

Thank you for contacting Horizon Hobby Product Support.

The widow maker was not designed for Lipo batteries. There caption was
taken directly out of the manual:

Due to the high current demands of
a brushless powered boat, Pro Boat
    recommends only the batteries listed
    above or equivalent.

This is right form the manual

You will need to purchase the following to get your boat on the water:
    • 8 AA alkaline batteries for the radio transmitter
    • 1-7.2V Ni-MH Battery Pack with Deans Connector (PRB3313 or PRB3314) or 1-7.4V Li-Po 25C
    Battery (DYN5360D)

I think they mean it's not designed for 3S lipo - which is the question you put to them. 2S seems to be OK by the manual.

I remember reading somewhere that boat keep blowing the esc because a issue with the lipo/nimh switch on the older versions. If you have the old verison you may want to swap that esc out with something else. Just a thought.

Yup same motor/esc in both boats. I would swap out that esc out with a different one. What size motor is that (like a 540 "s" or "l" or something different? I would throw a seaking 90 or 120 amp esc in that boat and maybe a ammo 2600 on 3s would be a nice sport setup right around 28K on the rpm. Not sure that hull can take too much more power with its stability issues JMO

I have a widowmaker, I threw in a 3c1p and smoked the esc, I now have a swordfish 120, but the hull can not handle the power, it is a waste of time to try and get this boat to preform anymore than it allready does outa the box.
