I got mine to 52.8 Mph (according to my trusty GPS) yesterday. Bone stock with just a new Grimracer prop. All temps were around 110 after about 2 minutes. Powered by a couple of 30C 5000 mah Turnigys.

Thers more in there for sure, but it becomes a handfull at that speed.

    65 is really hauling ass!

    Cool

Old news from 2008. I pitted next to Brian and watched the boat's speed progression as the tuning continued. It wasn't easy to get there, the prop was huge, and that is not a two minute setup. It was also pretty flat water for the fastest run....

    Cool

So you aren't interested in a first-hand report instead of a press release? After all it did happen over 1-1/2 years ago.....that ain't exactly new.

So far no one has been able to even equal that performance. Remember that was not a "GPS speed" so often thrown around on the boards, but an official SAW run through the traps for 330 feet plus run up and slow down.

I've watched Brian tune and tune at SAW events to end up with major speed from several hydros over the years; most were either his own design or heavily-modded models. Here all he did was put on a big prop, play with strut settings and add an air dam. Sounds simple - so why hasn't anyone even equaled this feat?

For more specifics, why not go to the horse's mouth, post #205.

(That other kid's through bothering me, he can go away now.)

Why would anyone want to? Mine is set up for racing...not SAW runs.

So this UL-1 is listed as the fastest RTR boat, but for a saw race?
very cool but what prop was used and how long could you run with that prop without smoking the motor and esc?

See my post above. Two passes, then bring it in.

I can't believe you asked this.

Plus it's a hydro. Would be hard for a vhull or cat. Speaking of which I wonder what the KOS could do on stock before things go up in smoke. Might have to find out. Put some 5s mess with the stingers with 36mm machined props. I say 50+ maybe.

I got my stock EKOS up to 49.8 GPS on a pair of 2s batteries and 36mm Venom aluminum props hand sharpened. After several speed runs over several days, I eventually burned out a speed controller. This was last Summer (2009). Details in EKOS forum.
