Default New Hobby King Cat (Surge Crusher)

    http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...9_Plug-n-Drive

Price is $140 when you log in!!

Just a right fine size for a small pond, seems like they finally put enough power into one of their boats. The motor might need to be upgraded to an XL size, but it looks to be one of the leopard motors...

Shaft might need to be replaced, ESC's going straight to the scrap bin, but it's still a great deal at $140 for hull+hardware+motor. Apparently they give you hatch tape too!

This hull may handle better than the bj... There aren't any pics of the bottom, but the view from the transom looks very promising.

    :P I know, right!

I think we can live with a weird shape for $140. Without decals I bet it would look better. I'll definitely be getting one of these as soon as I can scrounge up a little $$ (being a college student with no job is hard).

2s car packs are so cheap you might be able to get a complete boat system for under $300 if your starting with nothing (except radio, that is). The hardcase 4ah 25c Flightmax packs I have are down to $18 each now.

    We need Kv info!!!

There's 77 in stock, not sure why it hasn't shipped. Did you get EMS or the economy shipping?

    Default send email

If you log on, there is a way to inquire or ask about the order I think. I had one that did not ship and I inquired about it. The next day it was sent for packaging and shipped the day after that.

EMS normally ships right away, I thought they gave priority to those.

They usually do, my packages ship within hours if ordered on weekday and sunday evenings (excluding friday). Hong Kong is about 12 hours ahead of the US so 6 at night for us sunday evening is about 6 in the morning monday for them.

They probably just skipped over your order by mistake, i'd email them and ask what's going on. Suck up to them and I bet it'll get shipped out sooner.

Im still trying to build my order. I need a new servo, some batteries for the Surge and the Surge of course.

$50 for shipping seems like a lot when it takes the a business week to get it packaged up and another week to get to me...

Then again Im still waiting for my order I placed on 5/25.. That took them 3 days to send out...

Looks a little slow (but that is easy to fix) and the handling looks good!

This thing is looking better and better!! Are any of those bids with the stock ESC? That motor looks like it can push the hull pretty well for sport running. With LiPos and a decent prop I bet it could consistantly run low to mid 40s...

If it turns like that with NiMh cells, imagine how the cat will turn with 30% less weight!

Well if the boat showed on the 1st 2 videos is bone stock, this boat is a deal!!! but i need to point out that its only "implied" that its running on 2-7.2v=14.4V Nimh packs, they don`t actually show pics of the setup. Its my guess that boat is been run on 2S on those videos.Don`t get me wrong,,i do like the boat as i mentioned above!!!
About its looks, just change decals and put some paint color here and there and it will look good!!!!,.............
Electric or anyone else getting it!!!,please let us know how it performs whenever you guys get it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Al

I doubt a 30" cat with a 540L motor would go that fast on 7.2v...

As stated in the second video, 60+mph, I'd might as well give up on trying to get my MM to 60 and buy one of these?????

    Ha, that's 60KM/h!!

A mean machine can go to 60, it's not designed to go that fast (won't run well), but it'll go 60.

    It runs on 2 x 7.2 Nmih / 7.4 Lipo in series which = 14.4 / 14.8V so it could be possible.

    Cheers

    7.2v, no way!!

14.8 is about right for the hull and motor size.

It really suits my budget too, I'm glad I found this thread as before I spend my lousy allowance I get from my "Minister for War, Peace & Finances" I wanted to get some feedback on how it goes.

Although I'm not intending to race competively more just a bunch of mates having fun, I still want something half decent and I know you only get what you pay for.

    Cheers
