    Default Critique this set-up please.

I'm new (as you can see) to FE boats and have a SV27R on order - I want to go with LiPo batteries and a prop upgrade right from the gitgo.

    So here are my thoughts:

    Turnigy 4000mAh 2S 30C or 5000mAh 2S 40C LiPo packs.
    Dimension Engineering LVC.
Grimracer 42x55 prop (balanced & sharpened).

    Pros/Cons?

    Cool

High "C" rated cells are not needed on the spec motors but if you upgrade to more motor or a different boat they do make a difference. An LVC is always a great idea. The x642 prop de-tongued has been very successful on this boat for speeds above stock.

    Thanks for the reply.

I don't plan on upgrading the motor anytime soon so do you think these batteries would be a wiser choice? The cost is certainly more attractive.

Those are backordered. I use these http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=7653 and they seem to work pretty good. I use a detounged X442 and it jumps out of the water and gets on plaine way faster then stock. Top speed is a lot better too. I can't compare it to anything else though since I haven't used anything else. I do have an x440 and x445 but I haven't got around to s/b them yet and I'm pretty sure they aren't going to be as good as the 442 I'm using. I just remembered your talking about the 27R whitch is a different esc/motor as the reg 27 I have. Idk if that will make a difference or not?

I have the original SV27 and currently runnning 4500mAh 7 cell 8.4V NiMH batteries. The boat is very fast with these batteries but also very heavy. I'm thinking about finally making the jump to LiPo but don't really understand 2S, 3S...1P,2P....20C,30C etc.
I want a LiPo pack that will perform as well if not better than my 7 cell packs. So...what is the absolute best LiPo pack configuration for the SV27?

the "S" means series the "P" means parallel and "c" means discharge rate when referring to a pack. The cell voltage is 3.7v per cell in lipos vs 1.2v per cell as a nicd/nimh. So with that being said 2s = 7.4v (3.7v+3.7v), 3s = 11.1 and so on. Nimh CANNOT match the discharge rate of a lipo. Bigger the "C" rate the better. I personnaly don't run less than 30c. Here IMO is best bang for the buck. http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=10305 and work great in a SV. Your 7 cell nimh don't stand a chance against lipos, you'll be blown away and will never go back to NIMH. I see a lot of newer guys on this site and new to lipo's everyone new to lipos please take the time to read this informatio before you purchase and PAY ATTENTION while working with them and any battery for that matter. https://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ad.php?t=12020 & http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=209187 HAPPY BOATING AND EVERYONE NEW WELCOME TO OSE!!!
