Bought a mini wildcat about 2 weeks ago, and now i wanna go brushless. What size brushless will i need to go 50mph +? I know its dual motors and it will need two brushless set ups. Also how do you think it will handle at 50mph

I would like to see a wildcat go 50mph. I think it would probably take flight at about 40!
well i wanna see it take flight. but being able to go 50mph. What kind of motors do i need
Something like a pair of feigao 380s in the 4000kv range. Look em up under brushless motors here on the ose site. Good luck with your build!
I'm already on it. Have a thread going on it and a brushless setup on the way!
Just a set of these motors? What esc would i use to power these?

how about two of these?

The motors are tiny, but there are two bolt patterns in the mount, less than 380 sized holes.
I'm starting with a 35-40 amp setup and if it's not enough, going up to 60amp. But battery life becomes an issue at that point.
Jeff Wohlt can make specialty couplers for whichever motor setup you choose. www.rcraceboat.com, just email him and ask.
The props are 1/8th.
Those motors would last about 10 seconds at 9000kv.................. As forescott mentioned 3500-4000kv on 2s would work alright. Something along these lines

Fightercat sniffed these out..............whole setup for $40......need two of course.

Alright. what kind of ESC would I use to power the engines
HK has a few 35-40 amp esc's. They need to be conformal coated or silicon sealed though. http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...ies_35-40A_ESC
You can also add a water cooled heat sink instead of the one that comes with it. There's some floating around, ETTI makes them and OSE has them.
Whatever motor you choose, size the ESC above it's max amp rating and you should be OK.
I did a single brushless mini vee 28-47 2700kv 40 amp esc 3s and 4s on stock hardware. Durability becomes an issue quickly with this much power. Also the weight to power ratio get skewed quickly as it is hard to have something so fast and light keep in the water considering at 30 mph a ripple is a titlewave.About 300$ in to it im now looking for a 16-18" fg hull to tranplant my goodies.Probably a bby warzone jr since i have all the hardware from a brushed one i had many years ago
Everybody always wants to go faster. Remember, there is a point at which the boat becomes uncontrollable! What's the point!!!?

also i'm probably not going to be running a lipo. just a custom built nimh battery pack

Will two of these work with these motors?

this is what i run in my mini pricey but i prefer to be over rated than purchase twice

This might work, but is pushing it; http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...r_(Blue_Series)
I'll let you know how the Hobbyking works out on 2s.
Mixed reviews, but price is right on this guy;

if you wont be using lipos you wont be getting even close to the speeds mentioned probably not even 30
What about if i ran 11.1v? Or is lipo the only way to go with the brushless to get highspeeds out of it.
and low discharge rate out of nimh
I plan on using two of these in parallel.

this is the biggest i could jamb in the mini vee
