Default Newbie here, can someone explain kv

Basciallly my question is what is the relationship between number of cell and kv.
I would like to upgrade my EKOS motor and i am a little confuse on which Feigao XL to get, and confuse on the relationship between number of cell and kv.

After reading some of the post here, does it mean the lower the KV, the more cell i can use? If i want to stick with 3s, 9xl is the one i should get? And if i go 4s, 10xl it is.

    Thanks for your help.

    Those are the right choices.

Higher KV and higher amp load so smaller prop.

Lower KV and more cells, more prop and less amps.

From what I understand on Feigao motors is that a 9xl will spin at 1898 rpm per volt and a 10xl will do 1743 rpm per volt. It seems like you should stay around 30,000 rpm so do the mult for your specific need. The larger the cell ( 3s vs 4s) the larger the xl number. I THINK ? I will be watching for better answers.

You beat me Jeff. Did we say the same thing in a different way? I sure hope so.

The 380 Xl has different KVs and the 540Xl. 2500-2600 KV would be good on 3S each. Xls can also be loaded up with more prop. 40 mm. Or shave a few mm off the tips of the X442 by Octura and have some real props. They have those in L&R.
