Look at the forum on the shockwave 36 and you will see the setups for that boat.WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING TO USE WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO GIVE YOU MAYBE 15 MPH IF YOU ARE LUCKY!

What mount? Are you sure the rail spacing is 5 inches? My proboat thundercat has 4 1/2 inch rail spacing. southriverrcboats.com makes a 4 inch spacing motor mount, and will include the necessary spacers and longer screws for free if you ask them. They did for me! Here is a pic!

Im dong the same conversion on parts i have collected over the years. I had my fun in the day with brushed motors, I take a couple of years off and Brushless is now the new sliced bread. (yea more than a few years off but humor me). I work in the Rc heli business so my experience with brushless comes from there. I see alot of people running brushless motors with a 70A max draw on 180A speed controllers. Why? 22v * 70A is 1540watts which is about average for a 1500KV motor. why would you want to run a speed controller capable of double that if you dont need it? A 100A speed control sounds like a better option. SO I hope you can help clarify as I would have to spend $400 on a speed control when a $200 will work

A lot of guys including myself are using the turnigy 180. At only 79 bucks its an inexpensive and reliable esc. A turnigy 120 is about 60 bucks so Id rather opt for the 180 for an extra 20. I'd never pay 400 bucks for an esc.

Scott's right the 180 has had some good reviews on here. My shockwave 36 brushless has a kb45 08xl which is 1600kv running on 6s. Runs hot (imagine that) Not sure if you can ever actually tame the temp on these motors and go fast also. Fastest run was around 54mph with a x447. Here is a short video of it with a x642.
