Octura Aluminum Props

Aluminum or Aluminium (proper spelling)

I see a good lot of Alloy Octura props for sale on ebay and as the price is good and the shipping realistic I am seriously considering them.
These are small and big pitch so are for my small rigger and canard.

Are these ok to run with a 7S or 8S motor on 2S lipo in a small light hull.
4400-5000 kv and in the low 30krpm area.
I have used the Copper-berylium props in the 432 to 632 range and like them but need a few more.

Would these alloy ones be any good ??
I am keen to have a crack at the 21series if they are worth it.

I have a few ally props I run on my gasser, they work OK. Most sites will tell you they do not need balancing, this is bullcrap. Balance and sharpen as normal. If you wish to modify, ie more pitch , tip cup etc you HAVE to heat with small blowtorch or else it will crack. They will go soft but will air harden after a couple of weeks

Just had a quick look, OSE sells a x637 cheaper than that site sells an ally one ??? Why would you bother shopping there Simon? Steve is cheaper

Ahhh the refreshing sound of a man who knows his way around a water thrower.
I figured as much that they will need the S&M ooops S&B treatment.
I am not really into cupping etc as that is why I bludge props off you as they are already well tweaked.

So........bottom line is I can grab one of these very nicely priced little alloy buggers and go for gold on my small boats. ??

I'll try a different angle.
Is there a big difference between the 1632 and the X632 prop.
My small rigger likes a X632 but that prop was lost, long story.

If the 1632 is similar to the X632 then I may even grab a 1732 and try that for a laugh too.

PM sent, In short they are very different props. In standard form the 16 series has more lift than the x6

Simon I answered your PM as well and Andy is right. But there isn't a 1632, it jumps from a 1630 to a 1640.

Thats right Chuck, on the ball again. I prefer the 17 series, I find the profile easier to mod on the small props and easier to remove lift by back cutting to give it some rake with a little edge cup. I have a 1742/3 on my rigger at the moment and it took some work but it is very fast.

Andy have you considered or tried the P741/4? I have not tried it but did one for someone in Italy running a rigger.

No I have not, It would have to be cut back to under 40mm as the 1514 1.5D is on the limit with 1742 @ 40.5mm. I must say the challenge of modding a 4 bladder does appeal though and will look into it. Will get one next week as there is a supplier over here who has some in stock. The acceleration would be spectacular if the 3 bladder is anything to go by but it took more tweaking than any other to run right on the raptor

I suggested that he consider the P series as well as a 1930 and 2132 for all out speed in the PM I sent.
