Anything going on here? Progress? Finish up the top, I know you got my HOK paint and PPG clear, and a nice big aircompressor, paint guns, airbrush sand paper, get this bad boy in the water! I'm thinking about starting to work on mine some, more work = less parts for me to loose when I move.

Well it is funny you ask,
I am going to do a video on balancing the props tonight I realized that on my blog I state that "I am here to tell you all about the art of model boat building fron scratch" so I thought that I needed some actual information someone could actually use. by the way I moved it off the jig today does that count for something?

    Default More Bad Kitty Info

I know I know I have been rather non performing for building the Lynx Version II (Cat Scratch Feaver/ Double Felix but the good news is that I have dusted it off and started working on it again (It helps to have lots of goodies from our sponsors here at Offshore Electrics and else where I started by getting this nice little prop strut holder and then two prop shaft kits a right hand and a left hand both are 1/8" which should be great for this little Cat so here are a couple of pics to complete the day.

    Default Tubes and supports in

Hey I did something tonight!! I cut my tubes (stuffing type) and made a couple of supports out of carbon fiber to keep them in place I usually use chunks of balsa but the stuff to make this little kitty was a bit more expensive so I elected to use the carbon fiber so here are a couple of pics so you can see the progress.

You hve to be careful when you make these as the position is dictated by the length of your couplers so you need some for mocking up or else you may just have a mistake on your hands.

Default More decking in preparation for the Hatch

Well I carved out some time to work on the model, Today I added the side boards to the hatch opening (I like em Big) so I can get on with figuring out what to do about the water cooling to the motors without having some gaudy bump on the hatch. In my mind right now I am planning on making a couple of fake air scoops to hide the lines under, but first I was going to go to OSH Hardware to see about some alternate fittings that turn 90 deg.
As you can see from the photos I need to do a bit of trimming to the top around the back and front of the sponsons.

Hi all I started on the hatch tonight, and is it going to be interesting I had to glue sections of balsa together with the grain going across the beam so it would flex to the conture of the boat then I cut out the center and made two strips and beveled them and glued them on at an angle (I hope it is better than having to warp it to shape) and more of the creativity comes in making a couple of foux jet intake scoops to route the cooling tubes under for the motor cooling, I will take pictures later.

    Default Hatch

    Hi all,
I have been working on the hatch and have got it closing real well, I made it in three pieces the center section and two outboard sections, the grain of the wood runs across the boat so that it will bend easily.
I did have to glue some pieces together to make the part long enough as the balsa came in 4" wide pieces.

    Default Ugly First Then Awesome

Well I am puttn on the ugly here on the hatch today since everyone thought the last mini I built looked ugly until I painted it, Here we go again maybe someone will get some creative Ideas using styrofoam, I like using it as it is easy to sand and very cheep!!! I got mine for free and it doesn't get any better than that. I made the styrofoam cutter with odds and ends lying around the house it works pretty well but I am going to up grade my transformer with a better one for the job these little train transformers have an internal circuit breaker and it keeps popping (I hate it) so radio shack here I come.
Well here are some ugly pictures but in the hands of a body and fender dude it will start shaping up pretty fast.

I glued styrofoam blocks on top after doing some real rough shaping

I am sure you get the idea of air scoops (these will be fake to make room for the cooling tubes.)

    And the Styrofoam Cutter

Well Today I did a little sanding on the styrofoam I glued to the hatch and took five shots of the work so you all could see the progression of the project.

Default The Rudder Package is Started

Well today I started making the rudder Package I have all the parts roughed out for the rudder assyembley so it looks a bit blocky but that is soon to change with a bit of filing here and there.
Well on this rudder I decided to use a bushing in the hole for the shaft wow what a difference play is almost non existant and it turns real smooth as well.
