    Default turnigy 180 QUESTION

    HI ALL,

ANY OF YOU RUNNING A SEAKING/TURNIGY 180 ESC ON 6S WITH NEU 1521 1Y? I AM THINKING ABOUT IT BUT I DO NOT KNOW IF I AM PUSHING AMP DRAW TOO CLOSE FOR THE 180 OR IF I HAVE TO MOVE UP TO THE 200-240 RANGE ESC'S...ITS A CYBER STORM HULL I WOULD BE PUTTING IT IN.. X642-X645 PROP..I DO NOT WANT TO RUN A HIMODEL...AM I SETTING MYSELF UP FOR ?

Seaking and Himodels are better than Turnigy, so some say. I personally run the ETTI 150A on a Neu 1515 on my Storm on 5S. I have a good margin of safety built in. I am not sure what KV your Neu is. I am assuming close to 2K. Better safe than sorry? I would run 200A. Plus it is better to have a good rated esc to begin with and not worry about MHO

    1521 1Y =1577KV
    6S under load = 22.2 Volts

    1577KV X 22.2 V = 35,000 RPM = SAW Setup

Are you only doing SAW runs with this setup?????

For a race setup you want about 25,000 to 28,000 RPM for a Mono.

For a sport setup(longer run time) you want 22,000 to 25,000 RPM

The 1521 1Y is a very good motor on 4S2P for a sport setup.

Loaded rpms will put me around 31,000 and change...i ran a df33 on 6s with a 1515 1500kv with no problems and sport running so i thought i may be able to do the same with a similar hull...maybe i am way off base here..

A 1521/1Y running on 6S is running its rated continous amperage of 80 amps. I bet running a 645 is going to put you right at that limit. Maybe start with less aggressive props initialy?

A 6S2P setup under Load is 22.2 Volts X your KV will give you your
loaded prop RPM = 35,000 RPM in your case.
This equals about a 40mm prop.

You will get a better running boat by running a lower RPM and a little
    Larger prop.

    My "P" race Mono in my signature;
    DF -33
    4S2P 30C 5000's
    1521 1.5D
    Hydra 240
X447/3 - detounged and back cut.
    = 27,528 RPM under load.
This setup runs an average continuous draw of 140 AMP's for a MAX of 3 minutes.

Lots of rpm is fine, as long as you are careful. check temps often and start with a smallish prop. There is no reason you can't run a sport setup at those rpm's. I run a castle 1518 rated at 1800 kv on 5s2p with absolutely no problems with a Seaking 180. This is in a 31" mono. I've also ran as big as a x448 prop! That's 33,000 unloaded rpm's!
