    Default About to buy a Rio 51......

    Is there anything that these things need to run reliably? I was also told the motors were usually hard to start any truth to this?

    What I have read is the problems were related to the exhaust flange cracking at the motor. I own the stock hull and hardware, but converted it to electric and its a nice running boat that looks great and has held up well.

    wow what are odds you would be the first one to respond thats exactly what I want to do to mine is a electric conversion. Could you post some pics or a video or even some links to the bl motor and esc and batts to use?

    How much money do you have?????????

    I'll post some things here tonight when I get home.

    Here are the highlites;
    Motor, Lehner 3080 12T = $750
    Controller, Schultze 40/160= $700
    Lipos, 10S2P, $1000.

    There are cheaper alternatives though. Shoot me a PM and we can talk.

    As anti gas as i am,
    my personal opinion is that it would be easier/ cheaper for someone to just buy a mod motor. I have seen a zen with 6.7 hp or so for under $300

    I dont know if that hull can even handle that power. Brushless would be sweet, but this would be hard, cost lots of money, and too much for someone newer to the hobby.

    It handles the power just fine.

    I didnt mean with the brushless, but with the mod motors. Actually you are probably putting down some serious power with your BL system. Any idea on HP?

    The littlescreamers motor would work great on 10s and possibly push this hull into the 60s!

    That motor would rip in this hull but the esc is only rated to 6s so you would need this one and you could run it all on 10s
