i am collecting parts for my jae 21FE build. i am considering making this a saw set-up and am looking for tips on powering it. i have a cc240 and am planning on using 4s 5000mah brick. i want to stay away from expensive stuff (neu) as i will hardly ever use this boat.
i was wondering if anyone has tried using the 6xl for a saw set-up. i am trying to turn a 1450 prop for about 2-3 20 second burst. i know i can get away with smaller props but this hull wan designed to run big ones. it is made to accept a spec type motor (ul-1) so i think the 1515's and 580's are out of the question. besides i dont think you can run a 1515 verry hard on 1 5000mah pack.

just considering this as an alternative to the spec set-up to make a straight a way monster but still dont want to smoke any esc's or batteries. the hull is in the process of being build, i will post pics whjen available.

I have a 6XL red can and run it on 4S via a 200A non-watercooled Mystery.
This is all sent down a 062 wire to one of Andy-M's best 642 props.
This gets me close to 70mph (high 100-110kmh) all variables considered.

A well set up hull with a decent but not expensive pack to a 6XL should clear 60 with ease. 70 is on the cards and more if you want to play the SAW roulette.

I race two boats with 1515/1Ys on a single 4S 5,000 brick, and it's not a problem. Especially with the 30C or more rated packs. The boat should also handle it, they're going very quick with 21s in them!

If the motor cost is an issue, look at Neu 1415 or a Castle 1515, or hunt around for a used Neu 1515.

i allready have a 1515 1y so it is not a cost thing, just looking to turn higher kv than 2200 and i think the can is to large for the hull

If cost is not an issue you can special order the Nue 1415 2700kv? Steve's Nue inventory is running low at this time.

For SAWS:

Neu 1412/1.5d or for cheaper look at the CC 1512/2600. Properly set up, it should run up in the 80's.

what size prop can this 1412 pull?
what do you think about a 1512 1d (4875kv) on 2s? will that motor push a big prop? i have always used as 2s in a small n2 mono with 35-37mm prop

Sheesh near 70mph now Simon, got any Video ? How are you measuring speed, I thought you lost your GPS ?

Bout time you came down to Hakanoa and had your first SAW run and put some of these numbers down officially. on the 17th of this month the opportunity is there Dude, Id really like to see these rockets of yours on the water, only 5$ per boat to run for an official NZ record
