Default Looking for someone interested in a build

    Hello, newbi here!

I'm looking to see if there is someone in the western WI or MN area skilled in building a boat. I'm a huge Fountain fan and would like to have someone build me a sclae or realistic looking boat. I want real looking outdrives and such. Performance would be great, but more interested in looks.

If your interested shoot me an email and let me know what your thinking as far as cost. If you have any pics of previous builds that would be great aswell.

    Thanks Corey

From what little I know of the hobby, I think I would prefer electric for its easy use and lowere maintance.

As far as the hull size, i'm somewhat open. Is a 36" hull too big for electric? I looked at the Bonzi site before and they don't seem to have a realistic looking outdrive. Is it possible to mate one up from a different manufacture? I'm going for looks here and want something very close.

    Thank you for your reply

    Corey,

If scale is what you are looking for and cost is not an issue, then MHZ is the way to go.

    All the best,

    Corey.

The S6 Z-drive is what you want.......
    And a few thousand dollars.
The size of the outdrives makes you need a large hull, and so : large motors,
heavy duty esc's and loads of Lipo's.

Corey, Go to MHZ usa.com. Under Mono's L. Look at Dragon Lady. It is the
only hull that truly depicts a Fountain Offshore Racer. You can also look at the Z-
    drives. Hope this helps. Regards

    Or the MHZ- Hunter

And if your pockets are deep enough : Znetix.

Thanks guys, thought I saw some drives that looked real for around $150 each. As far as scale is concerned, it doesn't have to be accurate, just looking for looks here. I would say budget is around $1000. Mhz hulls look great, but can you get a cover of a normal cockpit? Can you get some speed out of a hull that big with electric?

    Thanks again

Could also be interested in surface drives that are realistic looking. Arneson type etc..

Sorry for all the uneducated questions here, but i suppose thats what the site is for. Anyways, is it possible to take the "rio ep" and put either some realistic surface drives or steerable outdrives on it to make it look real? Seems like you could get some speed out of it and I like the fact it is stepped.

    Thanks again

The only drive I can think of looking a bit "scale" would be the MTC Powertrimm V.
Too bad the Rio EP is made from ABS.

Is that budget 1000.00 including batteries? That could have a major impact on your project.

Also, the Rio EP is not stepped. Ask me how I know.....https://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ad.php?t=10449

Thanks you Westbeach. The surface drive seems cheaper than the outdrives? As far as the budget and the budget isn't exact, just like to keep it close.

    outdrives are surface-drives aswell :-)
With the powertrimms you'll need a rudder aswell.

Not trying to argue since i'm looking for advice, but a surface drive is just that, it runs on the surface and only half the prop is in the water given a revolution. The out-drives i'm referring to are like a merc-cruiser or bravo one, where the drive is completely in the water and trim levels are adjustable. I'm familiar with real powerboats, been around a friends Fountain 32' Fever for years "hence the fountain style i'm going after".

To me the drives in Jeffs pic are outdrives and they sure are not submerged !

    Ozzie.

These covers are no covers, but part of the hull.
The drives are the same as used on large cats.
    Hull is MHZ's Kiton.

Hi Corey, You are incorrect in stating surface drives on R/C boats are halfway
in the water. On a deep-vee hull like the fountain the propeller and shaft unit are
completely underwater and trim level is adjustable with the strut angle. Regards

    Norman2 :

Can you give me a pic or example of a rc-deep-vee with NO surface drive ?
