Fastech battery Solutions..

Hi guys! great forum, so much information. I am just getting into R/C boats after about 12 years, man the game has changed! I recently purchased a Formula fastech used, for a steal of a price in decent condition.

I am now on the hunt for an affordable battery solution for this boat, as the pro boat batteries are more exspensive than what i paid for the boat. I eventually will be getting a hardcore set of Lipo's for it, but for now, I want a cheap and quick solution that will run the boat well and not melt anything. I want to get a few runs in before winter freeze up, but i don't want to invest in expensive LiPo's just yet.

The batterys can be any brand, any type as long as they are cheap. I will probably be purchasing online as there is not alot of availibility in my area. Let me know if you guys have any ideas, or are running any good setups, and thanks for the help in advance.

Wow, $19.99? how can I go wrong? I am still new to the lipo world figuring out the 20c and 30c stuff... Manual recomends 25c so I imagine 20-30 is safe to run.

Even with chargers, the old motto still holds, "you get what you pay for". It may last 5 cycles it may last 50, it may last a long time. the question is do you want to risk the need to buy another one soon? or can you afford to spend $80 or more on one you won't be replacing? I don't have a suggestion as to which, because I buy quality ones, but I am sure somebody has a bead on the best lower end of the good ones.

Jesse, these batteries are fine, they work great on Formula Fastech as well BJ-26. Plus for lets say $100.00 you can have 4 of them so it will last longer with less charging. For his start on LiPo that will work. He can take it from there....

25C-30C-40C, the larger the number the more juice battery will be able to provide.

Alright guys, picked up 2 of the 20C lipos for dirty cheap, I am going to find a charger at the local hobby store. I will let you know how they work out in the boat. I hope the 20c's will be sufficient power... And i already have the programing card sitting at home. Now the anticipation begins! -Thanks for help!

Robert, I was only speaking of the charger. I have lots of cheap lipos and have had lots of good luck with these motors running them.

Alright so I have the batteries, and I ended up ordering one of these chargers (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/s...Charge_Capable) because of the price and i had free shipping weight left over.

Now I am just hunting for a 12v, 2 to 5 amp converter plug in my house. So as far as I can figure,

these Turnigy 5000mah lipo batteries are rated for 1 or 2c charging, which means at 1c they will accept 5 Amps, and be charged in an hour, or 10 amps and done in half hour. This charger maxes out a 2 amps, so i think my new 5000's will charge in....

oh boy, so much searching forums my head is spinning. I think they will charge in 2.5hrs? Anybody?

Whats awesome for a newbie like me is that the JST-HX connectors (taps? i'm learning the lipo lingo) on the battery are direct plug in to the charger.

Someone give me some reassuring guidance before I burn my house down.

Pick up a LIPO charge sack if you haven't already - they are cheap and well worth the peace of mind.
