with that motor I doubt you would EVER notice the difference. That motor sips on the batts, very low amperage draw. I am super duper happy with my 20C $25 Rhino batts from hobbyking.

    is yours the 4900mah?
could i ever run a single 4s if i made a special connector that leads to one plug?

so if i go two of the 20c, it wouldnt be a diff. from the two 30c batteries since the motor doesnt take much of the batt.

I would use two 4S in parallel, you need the weight since you are using lipos - boat was designed for NIMHs and 1 4S is about same weight as 1 6cell pack. I ALWAYS modify the leads coming out of the ESC to one - either deans or 5.5 mm plugs to the batteries. This way if you want to run 1 or 2 you just plug it in or use a Y adapter, respectively.

Mine were 4800 - 5000 mah, not less than 4500mah though.

Why dont you just run 2 lipos 2s each using stock configuration that will give you 14.8V?

I have run 5S, but in parallel... you need to balance out the boat. If you go 1 5S where do you put it? This is what I was trying to explain earlier. Why not try 2S x 2 (4S1P) as Robert says and if you want to go higher voltage, swap out one of the 2S for a 3S (of same mah, c rating and preferably brand), this way you have flexibility. When going higher voltage than 4S/12cells, you should probably prop back to 42mm.

actually the diagrams tell the story. Here's what i did:

    1) take a big pair of diagonal side cutters and clip the battery wires coming out of the ESC about 2"
    2) solder on 5.5 mm bullets (male on the positive and female on the negative - that's my convention)
    3) make a parallel adapter - 2 Y adapters. 1 where two males go to one female and the other where two females go to one male.
    4) plug in the adapters to the ESC and then batteries to the adapters.
    5) give boat a toss and grin big.

make sure to use good tape to seal your hatch and spent some extra time in corners of it, you need to keep your boat dry inside. Oooo, if your boat will be too heavy front, too wet ride, cut the battery trays such a way that you can move your lipos back a little. That will help in tweeking it.... Lovely boat for sure...
We need to see pictures please.....

Your name is written on it and it is waiting. It was just hoping somebody would be looking. Not really something that sells unless somebody wants one. Let me know when you want it.
