    Default Rio EP Pics!

Well I finally got it! Took 10 days to get here but I'm real pleased with the looks of this little boat!

I snapped a few pics 20 seconds after I took it out of the box to show it off. I'll get some more in depth info once I get it on the water! Anyways here they are!

Looks like the trim tab and turn fin are one piece. Great idea, saves from having too many holes in the transom. Is that a stock prop that came with the boat? Definitely looking fwd to a vid of your maiden run.

They are stickers. The ones on the deck might come off pretty easy when untaping the hatch too.

Not sure about the overhang on the back but I kinda like how it looks! Maybe it's a swim step upside down!?

Yep they are one piece. And as far as the prop it looks to be a 42mm frp prop. Kinda big for this sucker!

From the looks of it it's the same old motor and esc from the Hammer EP, so they prob stuck this big prop on the boat to pick up some speed.

Might be maxed out on prop size already but I've got a bunch of props I can test on it once I'm sure everything is running good.

Looks good...How fast you think it is stock?
And do you think the hull is worthy of a mild brushless upgrade?

    THANKS

I'll get the gps in it today but honestly I think it's doing maybe 13mph. I taped it up in a hurry to get some video before dark then noticed the gps was sitting next to the boat lol.

I made sure to run it box stock even though I seen some adjustments that needed to be made. The turn fins are bent totally crooked 1 side of the rudder mount is crooked also.

The boat seems trimmed and balanced pretty good for the power it has and my girlfriend really enjoyed running it. (she never wants to run my fast boats) she ran an entire pack this time out and 1/2 of another one I was pretty happy about that! That was worth the $150 the boat cost to me!

I totally think it's worth a brushless upgrade! I bought it with the intention to do just that. I've got some very nice setups I could stick in it but I'm not going to do it. I need to find a decent inexpensive setup that people can do without spending another $200+ on motor esc etc.

If you are thinking of picking up the Rio EP I would say go for it. The radio alone is worth it!

PS i ordered from swanghobby.com a water cooled 35amp brushless ESC and a 3.300KV motor that i am putting in my apache 24 it was shipped i believe for around $100.00 I looked at the proboat widow maker and it has a 30 amp ESC and a 2900KV motor so that's what i went by when figuring out my brushless purchase.

I am waiting for it to arive.

I wonder if a 3900 KV motor would be even better with this boat

    Hmmm..
a cheap hobbycity brushless motor and esc on 2s could be alot of fun and possibly very reliable in this boat..

Just did some quick math and a cheap 3000kv motor on 2s should put this little Rio into the 30s?

After reading these threads on the new Rio EP, I bought one and it should be at my house next week!
I need to finish my UL-1 repaint and put back together my MV, and get my MM going again..
    these FEs are very addictive!

My Rio should be here in a few hours. I plan on running a 2cell 5000mah 30C lipo in it. I will keep my run times down to five minutes each and check esc temps. I will be installing a lipo low voltage cutoff also. I will try and take pics as well as load a video tomorrow 10.9.09. I might need some one to give me a quick tutorial on how to load videos, and pics, since I have never done anything like this before. I promise I will keep you posted. Stay tuned.

    You Tube! Woot Woot!!

Can't wait to see I think I'm going to run a 3600kv watecooled motor with an 80A water cooled ESC and 3S 3000mAh battery 30C.

That is definetly what I want.

Once, I get the boat and order the parts I'll post a new thread on the build with a video. But it will probably take a few weeks to get the boat and get the parts and put it together.

RIO EP RIO EP!!!! I vote Rio EP

I was considering a 4800kv but thats probably too much, that's why I found a 3600kv that can take 2-4s so if 3 isn't enough I can just put 2 2s together and get more speed. I just need to find out the size of the stock motor as I haven't gotten one for myself yet.
