Motor Size for 29" Miss Geico
I just got a 3D printer a week ago and printed up this 29" Miss Geico replica from Thingiverse. It weighs about 2 lbs with canopy and glue. I'm trying to figure out a motor size for it since I'm brand new to RC boats. I'm thinking 3660 Leopard. I don't want to put too heavy of a motor in it and don't want to overpower the hull right off the bat. The construction of the boat is not ideal and it could break apart. However, I want to go fast! I know I should post an actual speed goal I am after, but due to inexperience I am not sure. All I have is a 9" Chinese special that only goes probably 15 mph. 50 mph would be really, really nice I guess. I plan on using a Seaking 120A ESC and enough battery to do the job, with the proper prop to get in the 25,000 to 30,000 rpm range. I'm more concerned with SAW speed than an oval setup.
I could write a novel about making this thing, but right now I'm just concerned about motor size. Also engineering a 3D printed rudder which is working out well. I would do a strut, but the heat will destroy it, oh well.
