2014 an FE year in review

January and February – We hold the Duel in the Pool, It’s great to be able to run while the snow flies out side here in Indiana. We get our boating “fix” which helps us get through to May. We will be holding an event in March this year getting the full pool to ourselves to stretch out in.

May – UL1 racing. 2014 was the last year to run UL1’s as a separate class, 2015 will see the introduction Limited sport Hydro (LSH)

August – Mini boats, this class developed on from mini mono’s only to mini boats, all run stock power (Mostly aquacraft) forms, but hull type varies. Great Class for beginners.

Sept – Our version of scale class, will also be changed up this year and rolled into LSH. September also saw the introduction of the count-down timer and PA system to allow the CD to communicate distressed boats, infractions, starts and finishes

October - Was a perfect October day, the sun was out and the water was calm, October is the all-important Polar bear cup. Parker Managed to keep his title, making him the mark to beat.

We ran indoors in the Alaskan winter for almost a decade in the 80s and 90s using community pools. The boats were a bit different than the outdoor boats we ran in the summer, slower and more maneuverable. The most exciting was the Key West class using 8 round cells and AstroFlight 05 motors. Very exciting with 5-6 almost identical boats on a triangular course. Speeds were mid-30s and with the hard walls it was pretty stressful racing them. Some of the most adrenaline-producing racing I ever had were the KeyWest pool heats.....

This is what got me hooked 3 years ago now, its great fun, but yes, make a mistake and its a hefty price on a fiber-glass boat. But get it right and you find yourself grinning from ear to ear. Love it

Appreciate the positive remarks guys, thanks.
