Starting to get the Falcon cat straightened out. Removing the rest of the skeg helped the cornering a lot. I was still taking it easy on the east (right) side of the course as theat's where the winds were hitting the hardest. It would handle the west end at pretty much full noise though. The cut down Prather S270 added a few mph to it as well.
Run day reports.

4/15/12
Winds today were varied, 10-20 moh from the ESE. Not a small boat kind of day but most of us junkies were in bad need of a fix so we ran our test n tune anyways. Yes there were "Small craft advisories" on the local news for the gulf waters. Other than the wind it was a beautiful day in the park.
First run up is Scott's HPR twin.

Was kinda a full house there today wasn't it? Seems we're starting to draw more and more spectators. Guess it's time to start thinking about investing in some safety fence and "NAMBA required beyond this point" signs.Comment

I agree. Looks like HD has 4'x100' lengths of the fence for about $25.00. Not bad at all. Posts are just under $5. each... Id imagine one every 10' would work, 50' down each side, thats 6 posts per side, so if my math is correct, for under $100. we can get the materials.Comment

Ackerman was a bit "challenging" today. By the time we started running at 10:.00 the the winds were around 15 and gusting higher from the NE (worst possible direction.)
When the first handful of us arrived at 8 to put up the newly aquired safety netting there was not much breeze at. There was even one of the guys from SRQ flying a PBY from east side of of the lake. I grabbed the video camera and shot some of his flight. (lost him a couple of times due to the trees where we were standing and when he went right over my head).

I got tired of fighting with the "Titanic" and put the motor and esc back into my DF33. With the Spring Shootout coming up at Waveblasters next month wanted to be sure I had something running right for it.
Even with the wind, chop and last place start still made a 1st finish. Yay me.(2nd round I was a dnf trying to take the lead away from Brian)
