Testing some CNC aluminum props on the Red Bull twin. Really needed a little calmer day for it. Topped out about 56 mph on the 1st run down the straight (before it went aerobatic).
Run day reports.

Last one today.
I had to try it. Even in the heavy wind. (just ask the guys that were running the boats how it was blowing)
This is round 2 of LSO Scott again takes the "last man standing" win.
Shot from my HT-FPV Quad using the "dice cam" (a better SD card made a lot of difference in jello effect and dropped frames it had before). Close up's of the boats aren't there like you can get with a handheld with zoom. I'm still kind of pleased with the video since I was just guessing on where to point it. No FPV on this quad (yet}.

Bill, that could be the coolest thing we've done yet at ackerman. For not having an onboard view, you did a damn good job.Comment

Thanks Chris, Scott & Brian. Chances are it's not a 1st but it's for sure something different and new for our group. If I could figure out how to add some lightweight flotation it's would look really cool to actually chase the boats over the water (after adding the FPV). As it is I'm a little scared to put it over the water as it would sink like a rock if it hit it.Comment

I was thinking the same thing yesterday about floats and putting it over water.Comment

That was great shooting Bill.Glad you guys could get out and that I got to watch again.
One of the guys at our club(I use that term loosely) has a Drone and he is concerned about how it will fly over water. It has enough foam and such
but relies on sonar for stabilization.Comment

Would definately be light but, with the sharp edges of the frame doubt it it would survive any inpact and still stay inflated. The best bet would be not to tempt fate as even if it didn't sink the water would most likely kill the electronics. (I'd rather not have to replace the Naza) Pool noodles might even work but really don't want to try a float test to see. Waterproofing all the electronics would probably add a lot of weight too.Comment

Today at Ackerman was just as bad wind wise (or maybe worse) than the Watt Fest fly-in I went to yesterday.
Here's our 1st boat video from today. Chris running the Mean Machine twin. As you can see The lake was really choppy.
