I'm jazzed. Red Roof Inn gave us a great deal for 7 days. Busy, busy building still. Damn Whip 40 is not easy to build when you can't stand over it... Never building a boat this big again, hurray for N2 revival!! That's the next hydro on the board too...

ok guys we have 50 racers and over 400 boats as of right now

and only have 67 day until open water that's 9 weeks hope he builds are coming along and everybody getting ready this is going to be one load of fun starting to get wound about this, the tents are al set, the ice is gone, and boats are just about done here we go.

A lot of work to do for me. I'm still painting and trying to make things look nice. Probably why my boats never run real well. I was just telling Mike B the other day that I was sitting next to Pags at the MI cup last year. His daughter looked over at my table and said 'Daddy, those boats over there look really nice'. Pags replied to her 'The pretty ones don't go fast'. How true!!

My boats are ready. I just have to decide which of my 1/10 Vintage boats to bring, "Prune Barge" or Miss US1.

Beginning trip planning and there is not much info on what is around the site. Any suggestions on good motels/hotels since my wife will be joining me. The Palace Inn mentioned earlier is 30+ miles away. Anything closer?

This site is kind of out in the sticks.

Shoot for Rochester or Rochester Hills for a hotel. About 10 miles.....ish.

There's also a Red Roof Inn in Rochester Hills. I think on Crooks Road. A bit farther but cheaper than those other two. I think Ray is staying there.

Being out in the sticks has it's drawbacks. The fact that there is just nothing around there sucks.

The Palace inn is about 20 minutes from the site...I stayed there last year. The Red Roof is about another 10-15 minutes on top of that...I stayed there 2 years ago. Of course, it all depends on traffic, lights etc....

Thanks guys. You pointed me in the right direction so we are staying at the Extended Stay America in Auburn Hills. Eighteen miles away from the lake doesn't offend my delicate Pacific Northwest sensitivities in the least. By the way, is there a Starbucks in the area?

How does your wife feel about tents? You could toss a tent up in the yard. haha She'll love living in a tent and not showering for a week or so right?

No tents for Wendy and I, that's just not possible, lol.

O.k. Last year there was tons of Construction that made the drive to Red roof a killer. Th price there is very good but, the other places closer are almost double the price because I Can't book on line for a wheelchair accessible room. When I called I got a rate of $92 a night from the Palace Inn while John booked on line and got a rate that was at least 30% less.

I'm a bit stuck. Is the construction done so it's a quicker drive to the Red Roof or is it still a mess?

How do I get a better rate for the Palace Inn ?? At least they finally have a wheelchair accessible room for me but, $92 a night is crazy although it saves major driving.

Ray, best I can tell it's done. There are some new projects this summer off of Rochester road on Avon and Tienken. I don't know if that will cause mayhem or not.
