Higher can voltage than source = more tolerance to heating.
Contra to ^V is 30% larger can.

The current Seaking 180 caps are rated at 35 vdc. I have a bunch of them at this voltage.,,,could I use them or wou really recommend going to the 50 vdc caps? I have found the Seakings to be bullet proof on 4s BUT i AM WORKING ON A 6S SET UP AND i DO NOT WANT TO BLOW THE esc. Do you also recommend going to a BEC when running the Seaking on 6s?

(He was not so lucky with his brand new yellow Mean Machine. He was so excited to run his new build he did not put in any flotation or tape the hatch. Ran incredible...till it flipped. Sank to the bottom in less than 30 seconds with a big BURP (LiPos?) where Davy Jones now watches over it. Hope to recover it soon.)
Someone talked about this a few years back on RRR. Nifty to see someone finally do it.

On a side note i was curious to see some of the racers ask about cap voltages and numbers.

The cap cycles (lay term), not heating per se' is what blows a cap. A cap can superheat in a couple milliseconds due to overcycle and then blow but the overcycle is the root cause. folks thinking of cooling your endcaps you might think your going to do something but you wont.

The energy exchange at 4S yield is within rated tolerance for the T180 caps.
At 6S those tolerances are easily surpassed.
Not an exclusive Turnigy fault ..Ive seen other name branded esc with blown cap or legs frazzled, same cause.. demand exceeds tolerances .
I add the same rated buffer caps to CC240LV@6S for this very reason... now faultless.

        why 50V@6s ?
Energy transfer is a product of V+A+hz
        I use 50V for larger plates+ wire size = stability = heat tolerance .
High Kv winds in particular when under heavy load will create a high Hz reflux(emf) effect !.. sending the firing circuit into meltdown.
Higher V caps allow buffering return with less failure.

        I R&D'd 63V@400A esc for 12S2P F86 150mmEDF that hauls arse ! ... used a/c start/run caps as buffer !.. 2x60uf@110V !

Note I use caps rated twice the V supply
