Well as I had said, I did a major flip with the Spartan and it was floating bow up for about 15 minutes till I could get to it, one huge 8.400 mah lipo hanging under water by the wire connector only and the canopy hanging from the saftey ring. I told Traxxas that. I told them I took the motor apart and cleaned it and re oiled the bearings and ran a set of stock nimh 3000 mah's till near dead which by the way make the nimh's so hot you can not hold them after a run. I then ran a set of 5000 mah's 6s and it ran perfectly thru that set of batteries down to esc cut off to let you bring it in. Ran the 8.400's also 6s for about 5 minutes and while going pretty slow the front bearing in the motor let go and scattered 16 gauge size ball bearings into the motor locking it up.
I run this boat 5 to 6 days a week a good hour every day and I run it hard at work as part of my job entertaining special needs kids and adults. Traxxas knows that too and though the boat was bought last November, it was still good with Traxxas and they are sending me a new motor. I was told I did the correct procedure for cleaing the motor out after a dunking and they considered my knowlege sufficent to do the job. As well it was felt the motor should have been ok and in any case I like new just fine.
Traxxas has done me right since I bought the Spartan.
