Lipos for the stock esc & motor

I want to upgrade batteries in my Spartan, eventually I am planning on installing my Leopard 4082 with a Turnigy Marine 180 esc. But in the meantime until I feel more comfortable what size of lipos can I use with the stock equipment? I am assuming that I do not need to program the esc for lipos.
