I would primer it and wetsand to get it perfect. The primer will fill any scratches and stuff. Your LHS may have stencils.Parma has what they call paint mask and have tears in that product.I believe they have checkers too.I would wait to paint if you can order some. This is where the patience comes into play Mason. You have to look at the final product over and over again. So some time getting it right will pay off later with the pride you will have in it when someone walks up and says "cool" at the pond.

You need to start with some 320grit and you should use a firm or hard chunk of wood/metal as a block. If you keep the sandpaper tight on the block you will keep the edges sharper. You only need a 2" X 3 or 4" block. You also need a straight edge to check for dips on the flats. You'll have to see how well the filler you Grandpa has will stick to the hull.I dabbed it on the corners in order to get them square and sharp.I'll take some pics of mine after work tommorrow to show you.OK?Comment

Sounds good. I.won't even be able too look at this. I have wrestling camp this week too. Hah I want to least get the hull blueprinted before I leave for Italy because NOTHInG will be done for 4 weeks. I am starting to think maybe have someone paint this for me if the price is right

Wet sanding helps keep fine sand paper from clogging and causing gouges/deeper scratches in paint or primer thats being sanded. Using a spray bottle, use Dawn dish detergent and warm water. Spray on hull and paper. Let the paper do the work. When the paper shows signs of not sanding like it should, use a new piece. It pays to not skimp on sand paper if youre going after a nice paint job. Remember, the paint only looks as good as the body work underneath. After doing body work on my old car, ive learned ALOT. It makes a difference to not skimp on anything.Comment

So finished sanding and removed all blue. I only sanded the sides and top. Not the bottom since we are blue printing. But here we go.
Wetsanded with soapy water... In febreze bottle... And it turned out great. Silky smooth.
