Yes, Joe was shopping around for cheap shipping quotes,
And I have been swamped at work with two stroke repairs.
I tried to post the pictures that Joe sent me in a email,
But can not post them on hear for some reason.
Zip file I think is the problem.
Joe had a similar damaged cat 4 months ago and guess who bought it - our very own Jason! Im just glad that those good deals are just circling around our family of boaters here in OSE.
Yeah, $1000 is ridiculous and plain crazy for a shipping quote - but actually there's another way. There's a courier company affiliated with "Forex" that has a warehouse in LA - Stephen's TopGun Cat which he got from Jason is actually still there at the moment. For the TopGun, Stephen will be billed for $145 shipping.
If we did elect to get Joe's 51" Cat - Im probably guessing $175 - $200 shipping cost, not that bad most specially since Joe basically was giving the boat away. I told this to our boating friends here, but they just dont wanna deal with the logistics.

The warehouse in LA will ship via boat - so thats a 5 weeks wait. But compared to paying $1000 for airmail, I would rather wait myself.
I showed those damage pics to Stephen and to our gas guru - master opluna, we all agreed that the damage is minor and very repairable. I'd probably just fold down the fiberglass and adhere it to the seam - any creases could be easily taken cared by bondo. From that crease, I would paint it either black or bright orange up to the front that would look like an arrow head or something.
The green paintjob alone costs Joe $500 - so Lenny I think you really have a good deal there and people are willing to pay more even with the damage. You naturally could fix it up and sell or use it for yourself - either way, you still come up on top! :)

But not sure on what cell and esc yet.
      Just a good sport cat.

        Lenny,
Kindly read the last reply #1200 by Jason in page 40 of this thread:

        http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...-a-hull/page40

This is the Cat which Jason bought from Joe a few months ago. For me, the damage to this boat is more crucial as the repair is under the hull - riding surface. Im sure Jason could fix it just fine, but just showing you how less vital the damage is on yours.

For that 51" Cat - I'd look into twin T600. You remember that video that Martno1fan showed of an Apache of his friend running twin T600s? That video was awesome & taken alongside running a real boat!

Thanks for the good read on the the repairs,
            I think remember that Apache.
But I never had twins before,
But was thinking of a single setup like this one,
If it can hold up ok with a hv80a seaking esc or the hv130a seaking esc.

just got home and i have no idea what i'm going to work on
went to see madagascar 3 w/ the kids yesterday and tried to install most of the alum remaining parts for my slash. also installed the mamba system but only got to try it around the house. it seems to have too much power. but thankfully, both motor & esc seem to be working fine. that was the whole point of the exercise. (pic attached)

getting ready to send u guys one last final list before ordering the parts

update: jerry, i like the color combo, don't change it! you made a good choice

You got it bud - atleast we have turbines for both MG & Genesis!

Shawn - my apologies bud as it seems your hydro project slipped my mind. Do update us when you can as I might explore a hydro sooner than later. I think I did ask Jerry on how a hydro handles and have shy'd away from owning one since my failed "small bolt" hydro experience last year. It would have to be a gas size thou and Blazer Marine's Backlash/Whiplash seems the hottest thing in gas hydros today.

Well, Stephen's $100 2T oil seems to be the wrong kind (semi-synthetic and not fully synthetic), so that save me a bit for now - I dunno if Im gonna pull the trigger on the parts which is in the shopping cart of HK for the xray 1:18 or hold off till something comes along.
I would admit however that working on a rc car for just bashing around is an exciting diversion to boats.

The R/C Anonymous thread is currently in the build section Jerry. And Ben has a spare hatch sitting on the shelf if you are interested.
