I worked a bit on my fun boat crackerbox and to lessen too much bondo I did sheeting with thin cardboard.
A couple of our boating friends really liked the canopy I did for my speedmaster, so they asked me to make them canopies for their converted speedmasters as well!

I better get one of those in white primer and I'll just match it with my pearl yellow SM-29. Hehehe!
The top of the cracker has been bondoed - thinking of adding a few scale details even if the boat isnt scale. Hopefully a great funboat!
42" Osprey is being fitted with electronics at the moment - hopefully we could test this coming Sunday. From the pic below - single 6s battery pack, 4563 (we dont know the kv yet) motor, T180a esc and a hitec quarter scale servo.
I agree shawn! The hull is so big that it midgets even the 6S1P pack and the 4563 motor! The 1/4 scale servo even looks standard from the photo! Hahaha! Anyways, it's just for testing purposes. I'm sure our buddy will go big on this one soon! Hehehe! If it runs good then, it's worthy of a bigger motor, higher esc and 2x6S1P to suck juice from!
Hahahaha - yeah, darn hull is so huge that everything else looks mini! Will see how it performs and hope nothing explodes! hehehe!
Bigger hulls like this requires larger and stronger components, but if its not practical - I might just convert this to a gasser with a Zenoah engine instead. Will see!
Just thought I'd share some videos of the Lazer 45 Geico gasser. All the 3 FE boats I brought to the pond today developed some problems, so it left me with running my one and only gas boat. Thus, no videos of any FE boats - sorry.
Right on Mardon, looks to be running great. Is that chop always there? That's a perfect breeze to randomly blow over a cat.Looks like a good day was had.
I'm hoping to finish up the little mono today and that's about it.Ny backs sore, man I must be getting old.
Thanks Shawn!
With the problems I encountered with all of my 3 FEs this afternoon, I think I deserve atleast 1 boat to pull thru! hehehehe
My red ferrari speedmaster which run great last week, now couldnt last 1 minute in water. Coupler couldnt seem to grip the flex tighly. My F1 tunnel's flex disconnected from the drive inside the outboard, so I was too lazy to disconnect the steering, motor and mount from the outboard to re-sit the flex. Besides, too windy & choppy today for the F1 tunnel to run properly.
..........and finally, the maiden of the Osprey was a disaster!
Not knowing the kv of the 45mm motor, we went slow. We figured the 43mm prop was a bit small as the boat cavitated badly. It went fast once it planed then flex broke and kinda exploded the stuffing tube! hahahaha! My stuffing tube looks like an opening of a trumpet!
It was thermal inside the hull & smoke escaped when we opened the canopy. Motor seems shot but I hope it didnt destroy my new T180a esc.
Anyway, all 3 FEs are now in the attic, so will decide which boats will run next sunday. Maybe I'll just place a Zenoah gas engine in that Osprey hull or re-do it still in electric - but for now will place it on the back burner.
