The pirate has taller "freeboards"/sides.Haven't seen the two side by side so I can't comment on the V.I'm considering the Pirate as well for my other 1717.I would add a flood chamber.Still looking at other hulls though because common consesus is that DF's are thin.I tend to agree with that after my one wipe-out I had.
Your MG that started off as a hull

Hi Macdon, thought you may be interested in this project I am doing, it was a new Genisis 37" hull cut in half from bow to stern and re-moulded to give a 12"width, got rid of the two twin drive wells under the transom and widened and deepened the transom standoff pad to be able mount the hardware easier. A Leopard 4082 2200, 2 x 4s 5000 and T180, all cooling inlets are moulded in to the rear of the ride pads, won't be finishing/running this boat for a couple of months yet so i'm really interested to see how your 37" cat handles.

That is certainly awesome - thanks for sharing Barry!
I was kinda hoping you would've run it already so we could get some feedback on its handling hahaha! Have you tried a stock Genesis so you could possibly compare any difference?
If you've read most of this thread, you'll notice we've considered getting a Genesis hull and cutting it straight in the middle like what you've done - so I guess I wasnt the only person with that crazy idea after all! hahaha.
We did however decide to build a cat straight up from scratch, so we're also anxious as to how it will perform in the open waters. I hope you hang out here with us and we could learn from each other :)Comment

I run my boats in the middle east mainly but I live most of the year in the UK (rotten weather and rough waters), I am leaving the middle east now and won't be back until May/June time; so it looks like your 37" cat will hit the water first, I have never run a standard Genesis, the nearest I have is a MG 4074 2200 4s x 2 T180 which runs great in these flat waters in Dubai although water cooling is a bit of a challenge with the high ocean temperatures.
Looking forward to your first runs with your 37, good luck.

Hey guys!
My worker will be finished with a project by the end of this week so he'll go back to working on our 37" Cat by next week.
So Im trying to focus on a mono till then. I was wondering if you could share any inputs regarding these hulls:
39" Mono:
36" Mono:
Im thinking that the 39" may be a bit too big? Hopefully, I could have something to lean towards to before I focus back on the 37" Cat next week.Comment

WOW!!! You did a great job on that hull!!!! I think a wider genesis would be perfect. I love my genesis but it cant turn at speeds due to the narrow tunnel. Although having a wider tunnel limits your top speed due to liftoff. But i think it would be worth it. You and Macdon both are very good at glass work!!!!Miss Geico CC1515 2200kv T180 2S2S- Twin Genesis with 2 2700kv 2 T180's 4S2P- Stiletto with 2030kv T120 4S1P-DF33 4082 1600kv T180 6S2P- and lots of gassers!Comment

I am using the kintec MG strut bushing upgrade. It seems to work good. You can see the bushing when you get my geico next week or so.Last edited by jasoncyclone; 02-09-2012, 01:35 AM.Miss Geico CC1515 2200kv T180 2S2S- Twin Genesis with 2 2700kv 2 T180's 4S2P- Stiletto with 2030kv T120 4S1P-DF33 4082 1600kv T180 6S2P- and lots of gassers!Comment
