      Bill,

Only Futaba's have the heat problem. Despite what they say, it's NOT a "2.4 thing" - it's a Futaba thing.

Remember this link? I posted it here before, written by a pro-Futaba guy explaining the problem very analytically:

The alternative is to use equipment which still runs at over 300 degrees! http://www.spektrumrc.com/Content/Im...lenge_AD_3.pdf

I thought I was clear when I wrote

        Maybe that was confusing.

And since you took the opportunity to make a sales pitch for Spektrum, can you tell me why are people being told by Horizon techs not to use the surface radios in boats?? Nothing official is being said but there have been numerous reports by people who say that when they call and ask they are told not to use the Spektrum radios in boats.

So apparently they will work at 300 degrees but not on water. Go figure.
        Don't get me started

When you said, "2.4 RXs tend to build up a bit more heat so sealing them up tight is not a very good idea." you were not clear that it was a Futaba-only problem. If you had said "Futaba 2.4 RXs..." then I wouldn't have had to clarify it.

And since you took the opportunity to make a sales pitch for Spektrum, can you tell me why are people being told by Horizon techs not to use the surface radios in boats??
Probably because that's what the people who make those decisions have told them to say. Do I know who or why they made that decision? Nope.

Starting this spring I converted all my stuff to Spektrum (finally sold off the last antique (ie, 72/75 MHz) radios last week!)I ran a SR3100 in my boats w/o a problem for months, but then I've never had much problem with AM or FM. A lot of other guys haven't had trouble with their Spektrum on the water either, and I don't do anything special on any boats - they all have the antenna out in the open, away from ESCs and motors and batteries.

          Why is that?
