Post this in the Fast Electric Rc Boating Questions and Answer Forum.

Anyways, search for Zippy lipo's or turnigy lipo's over on www.hobbycity.com
Look for 5000mah or more and no less then 20c discharge rates. You need a pair of 7.4v 2s lipos.

It might be wise to drop the prop size to a K445 also. The K448 might be a bit big.
If you can get hold of a metal Octura X642 you might find a bit more speed with less current draw. And I believe it will probably handle a bit better.

z400 He posted this in the sv27 forum, That is what I would have done, is this wrong?
Z400 is right, Just got 2 5000 Mah 7.4 20c batteries for 27 a piece and took 10 days from Hong Kong. Cheapest you will find but people say that you get what you pay for but I'm giving it a chance as I don';t race and am fairly conservative on them with my BJ26 EP and ran for 15 minutes and only put back 3758 Mah. Go to Z400 link and search. The charger is another story

Yeah, its fine to post it here but this is more of a general boating question and will get many more views and plenty more responses in the other section on the boards here.

            Lipos with stock ESC

Be aware that the stock ESC does not have a low voltage cut off. You will fry the lipos if your not careful. Bring the boat in as soon as you notice it start to slow down if your going to keep the stock ESC.

I would strongly suggest that you switch over to the ProBoat ESC used for the Black Jack with the programming card. You will need the card to program the ESC for lipos and low voltage cut off. I have run this set up for more than a season now with no problems.

I using a pair of Turnigy lipos from them. 2s 5000mah, and they are doing great. I've had 5 full on runs with them and the batts aren't barely warm to the touch when I bring the boat in. I'm using a lv cut off from Novak made for 4s. Works well by pulsing the throttle, then I have a light mounted that will begin to glow as well.
I have also dunked the Turnigy packs with no ill affect. Just made sure to let them dry for an evening. One other thing.....I "seal" the packs with high temp hot glue. In the future I may start dipping them in a coating material that is used for tools.
