    battery placement?

Okay so I decided to purchase the flightmax 2s 5000mah lipos & was wondering how far forward should I mount the batteries from the transom? Since lipos are a lot lighter than nimh's I heard these boats would be a lot more unstable using lipos since these boats are designed more for nimh's. Please post pics of your set ups!

Mount them as far forward as you need to get the cg that you want. 8.5 inches from the transom works for me. As has been suggested here before add about 6 ounces weight at the cg to make the boat more stable.

All boats are a tad different so you will have to play with yours a bit to find the best location.
I use the motor mount as a position marker. When there is no GPS I move the lipos front about 1/8 inch to where the break between the stickers line up with the motor mount. In rougher water they move another 1/8 forward.
Loose is fast so I do not add weight with a stock motor. This is a 3 year old motor and the lipos have been cycled at least 30 times and still getting great speed. This run was yesterday in dead calm water with a damaged prop.

Where do you stick the weights on top of the batteries or the floor of the hull?

I removed the stock battery trays & glued two strips of velcro across the hull & placed the batteries forward more. I took it out @ a nearby lake from my house yesterday & boy what a difference! The boat seemed more stable & it didn't skip around as much as it used to! I am using nimh's right now but soon gonna be upgrading to lipos so the boat will be lighter as what motoxbob said put 6oz of weight to the front.

I put the weight on the floor of the hull right in front of the motor and then adjusted the battery position to get th cg where I want.
