I've read conflicting opinions on this so that is why I ask this simple question.
Should the front (drive dog) side or the back (shaft nut) side of the prop be filed and sanded during balancing?
Can anyone direct me to a source or a thread on good balancing technique?

Google "Andy Kunz Propeller Balancing" - it's available on multiple sites.

My first balancer was a home made one like Grim is showing but mine had razor blades standing up on edge and then I used a shaft. Still works well and can keep up with my TF.

I do agree close counts since most shafts, flex shaft and other items in the drivline are not balanced near as much.

Pretty props do nothing but look pretty. Tom at Octura should have also mentioned do not take the finish off the prop....slick and polished is not the hot set up...but we do love that bling! Sharp, thinned and balanced is all that is needed.
