SV 27 drive shaft tube hits cable coupler

I just bought a new Aquacraft SV 27 N. Boat looks real good. My problem is that the brass drive shaft tube inside the hull touches the cable coupler. I mean there is no gap between the end of the brass shaft tube and the cable coupler The two touch eachother.

Can I take the mono strut assembly off the transom and slide the brass drive shaft out from the boat? Is this brass shaft fixed to the bottom of the hull under the radio box?

If I can slide the brass drive shaft out, how much do I cut off. I mean, how much of a gap do I need between the cable coupler and the brass dive shaft

There doesnt need to be much of a gap. you can remove the shaft by loosening the coupler and sliding the flex cable out. Than use a file to remove about 1mm-2mm.

Theres no need to remove material off the brass stuffing tube. Reverse your motor mount. Thats right. Turn it around 180 degrees and you will gain about 3/8 of an inch and put your CG forward where it needs to be anyways. The factory likes to put the mount with the channel facing forward. Turn it around. You gain more room to access the coupler and more importantly your CG moves forward which any stock SV27 is in dire need of. Only problem that might arise is if the flex is not long enough but that varies from hull to hull or whatever mood the folks who happen to be building that production lot are in. An SV27 performs better with a shorter Stinger anyways but thats another topic to tackle which allows you longer flex assy if you think about it.

Too bad the factory doesnt offer a "Modified Performance Improved SV27" over the stock boat that comes out of the box.

Thanks for the response. I think you are talking about the BL version? This is the Nitro version that has the issue. Can not reverse the mount. Has a cut out on the side for the pull start.
