Capt - Was your 40x57 sharpened? I ran one the other day out of the box (was very well balanced, believe it or not) and all it did was cavitate. I tried full up to full down strut position, hand launching, etc... and she just wasn't hooking up.

You need to thin and sharpen it. This will help with cavitation.

Mine isn't thinned....but it is balanced and sharpened. It does take awhile 50 ft or so to hook up.

I just got a pair of Maxamps 2s 60C 6500s and they blow the doors off my 2s 5250 packs, I am a believer in Maxamps and their quality and warranty. I'll have to GPS to see what she'll do w/ the 40x52/3 amd 40x57/3 props.

So they've doubled the "C" rating on the 5250s too? How they do that?

Ahhhh...I just looked at the spec sheet I downloaded when I bought my 5250s and the only change in it and the new spec sheet is the old one says:

30C Constant (157 amps) (no mention of surge watts/amps)

            The new one says:

60C - 2330 surge watts (315 amps) (no mention of constant amps)

All other data is identical. That appears to be the same battery with the specs twisted to look better.

Of course the bigger 6500 pack would perform better...as would even bigger packs till the weight became an issue.

Not sure how they get a 60c rating, what is the bust?
              I think even a 6500 30c would rip..

My 6500 2s (30c) are under 3 months old and when I purchased them they listed both constant and burst current (195/390). It is the same battery that now advertises 60c.

I recently purchased some 3s and I noticed that they only list the burst current rating now.

                Must be a marketing thing...

I run an ammo 36-56-2600kv with a hydra 120, M645 and Turnigy 5000 40c.. flirting with 60mph. A full inch on the strut @ -o- . instant speed increase - runtimes are about 5 to 7 min. On the edge of control - better know when shes gonna come out of the water,(throttle) or you'll spend alot of time fishing your boat out of the lake...LOL

M645 yep... It will wheelie out of the hole... no submarining anymore. It blazes, and I smile from ear to ear. 642 is good too.

I ran it on mine a few times without issue, but you may be right. I looked at the package for the motor and it does say it max current 55amps but surge to 90 amps... so I probably was just lucky. The new ESC has a huge cap on it, It may also be rated for higher power. My buddy is going to run this with the new ESC we'll see what happens...

It'll pull more amps than that, depending on how it's propped.
