What always amazes me is how loose you can run them and they stay on the water.

I just got home from my HOTMBC club's meeting, the boat is totally great and dial finished setting up. I love the way this hull handle, no doubt its a best handle mono with its side, i think the biggest reason is heavy weight with right cg and monster motor , i got 70mph now with just a Prather 250, i will try s260 next since everything are just ...cool under 130 degree after 3 mins.
To answer Brod, whenever i see water getting too rough, i won't put any of my boat down OR, just play very gentle with speed, i dont think 45" mono at 70+ mph will match with rough water , only my cat 60" cat weight 30lbs (the one in my avarta) can do 86mph with slighly rough water and i trusted it, video comming next week.

              Video will be watched!
My 60" Cat isnt finished yet.

We run our 44 and 47" similar hulls in mainly windy and rougher water,Gas though anything over 45-50mph 'ish and things do get hairy, good fun to drive though, especially with a few boats together. But plenty of flips and submarining.
Our 29 and 33" FE's just cant be run in these waters at speed.
It would be nice if we could get some flat water where we live..

Well, the bad news Peter is that this build is probably going to be a stock gas build. I feel like a traitor, but this is the situation. First I need some mood music: No FE classes in my IMPBA district. If I run the Sniper as an FE. The only class I could legally run would be Open Offshore. We don't have an open mono class and the offshore course at my club pond is close to twice the size of the oval course. I don't know if I'll have the battery capacity to survive. Plus, I'm not a bad driver, but I'm not ready to run with the big dogs. Maybe I can talk the district into letting me run open Nitro Mono. I wont be starting the build till late this fall so I have time.

For you guys that I have been trying to round up to run FE's in District 12 I'm not abandoning my quest. Just looking for something to do to kill the three hours between heats.

The Sniper is a great gas hull. Mine weighs 12.5 pounds ready for fuel. I run mine in G-1 Mono, GX-1 mono (we just run our G-1 boats in GX) and open offshore (it fits the Offshore gas rules). Three classes, one boat.

I need to get some packs and start running the electric in open mono or something!

I feel your pain! Trying to round up FE people, either NAMBA or IMPBA is really difficult. The problem is the nitro/gas boys won't welcome them into their clubs. Oh, sure, they'll offer maybe one class. Who wants to sit around for a two day meet to run in just one class! It's a very subtle way of the fuelers to make it clear they really don't want their pond muddied by the electrics. Unfortunate. I guess FE will never become that widespread until more clubs lose their lakes due to noise. Too bad it has to be that way. We have formed a couple of FE clubs in Florida. One is very successful. The other is new and struggling.

Can't blame you for joining the frey!

I do not agree that FE is suffering because clubs do not welcome it. Plain and simple I think it is cost.

As a direct comparison look at my two Snipers:

FE Version with one set of 10S2P packs = +/- $3,000
Gas version with race mod motor and pipe = +/- $1,200

Then throw in maybe another set of packs for the FE version, chargers (you need 2 to race = 4 packs), maybe a generator to charge with, etc. and you can be over $5,000 in a heart beat.

Then throw in the run time differences and for most guys that does it. Even with a smaller boat, say P mono the cost is still high and the run time low.

Most guys simply do not see that has a way to go.

Plus many people simply prefer the larger gas boats, which given the lower cost compared to large FE boats makes them even more appealing.
                                Don't get me started
