    ESC melt down.

What do you guys think about useing a Etti 150 in place of a Hydra 240. It says it can handle 300 amp bursts and i only use it for SAW runs so i dont know. Boat runs 88 mph and has a NEU 1521 1.5 D motor and runs on 25 volts.

Ya it was spectacular. The ESC shorted and the batteries went up in flames. A video would have been great with the smoke pouring out on a great run. But anyhow the Ettis are much cheaper by a 100.00 bucks or so i thought it would be more cost efective. My Hydra lasted over a year running it real hard though. What do you think, spend the money again/

whereas I would say go the ETTI as lots of 240's have been going at random lately, might take a while to get one that doesnt.

I ve burnt 2 ETTIs with 6s (actually burnt on 4s but using 6s on them in other setups).

If you want 6s use an ESC 2s higher. It is also a big motor so if it is a big boat too just go for a HV ESC. HV 180-240 or a Schulze HV. I don't think the ETTI will last long with your setup.

the P Hydro record in IMPBA was set with an Etti speedo... Chris Harris used it after a 240 burned out on him... honestly, if it's good for him it's good for me... Brian B uses a custom ESC by CC, not many people have it, it's a 360 amp "Hydra".

LOL or you could just buy a shultze 40.160 and never have to buy another big esc :P

I agree with you don't use the 150 Etti with 25 volt setup you will blow it for sure i'm still waiting for my second one to come back from etti for repair the 200 amp umit looks promising but at 400+ usd you might as well buy a real esc not a toy one

Faulty logic. Hard SAW running is tough on any ESC. IME this kind of damage is often cummulative, the ESC may keep running for a dozen more tries before it fails. Just because a controller made enough passes to get Chris the record does not mean it is a good long-term purchase. It sounds like his 240 worked fine, you can't expect any controller to last for a lot of SAW running. BTW Brian had to send back that 'special' Barracuda he was running, it burnt up on him in LA. Try hard enough and any ESC will fail - I've seen two 40-160s burst into flames in LA.

That said, a Schulze 32-170 is what I'd run if it were my boat with that motor. Hey I just remembered, that's what I do run.........

Dear god Fluid..that ESC form schulze is crazy money LOL. Cant aford that so how about a 240 Hydra HV there around $420.00 and i can step up the voltage a tad for more speed. I do here these units, the "Hydra HV's", tend to fry even more but thats only what ive heard. Or i can stay with what i had. I did get over a year with it. Also is a Castle Link worth it. I never saw a need for one but who knows.

I would say get the castle link, it gives you a few more options for setup and tuning the esc... For 20 bucks it is well worth it.
