    Goin' to the Races !

Adios mi Amigos for a while. Tomorrow morning I head East to Arizona for my third Winter Warmup [WW] race. I have four hot boats entered in 5 classes & the butterflies are a'buzzing in my stomach. The WW racers are the best there are, so I'm not expecting much, only to rub elbows & party with the cream of the FE crop.
See 'ya next week, & be kind to Douggie & Jan while I'm gone !!!

        Right on, Tony! Drive safe.

A couple of the midwest guys showed up this afternoon. I guess they couldn't take the weather anymore!

3 racers UPS'd their gear to my office. 397 lbs.

Douggie, the results are on the RC Boat Club Forum. It was one awesome bash, lots of stick time , great fellowship, dinner with the guys every night including a farewell dinner at Mr. Newlands's digs. I was the least experienced racer there [ except for two new guys from AZ who entered LSO. ]. The same cool crowd from the last two years I was there, plus I had the priviledge of meeting for the first time & racing with Steve Reesor who had some gorgeous boats, and Doug Petrerson who really rocked. My fleet experienced the expected carnage {don't ask}, but I dug the whole shebang to the max. Personally, out of 24 assorted class/heats, I ended up with something like 4 3rd place finishes, 6 2nd place finishes, and one first place finish { in P-Mono !! - with Randy Naylor pitting which he may have regretted since I got so excited at a first place finish in a P-Mono heat that I think I kissed the poor guy on the driver's stand] I also got a third place in Concours for my VS-1, and the "Prop Nut Award" for losing the most props, including a very special one when the f'ing stock coupler on the UL-1 cracked & crapped off the shaft & prop- {word up fella's}. I'm still feeling the glow of it all plus metabolizing a big adrenaline hangover. Go racing & you'll know what I mean

What I noticed this year was the high level of competition , much higher this year then the last 2 years.
The other years I often made the podem by driving conservitive and finishing.
not this year , with most classes having 10 boats , 2 - 5 boats heats in each round , and 6 rounds for most classes , the guys that won or placed had to race hard for every position.

I liked the format , and hope it continues at WW VI .
