will it be possible to buy the boat without the radio? Are motors and esc's available yet?

It would be unfair not to show them to people. Give them the chance to make a judgement call on their own. Like I said before, both will have a home somewhere, just like I drive Chevy's and my best friend drives a Ford. Also the UL-1 radio is a huge step forward in rtr, but that would never influence or deter me in buying something. My personal UL-1 will be using a spektrum. No need to bring numerous tx's to the pond if I can only drive one at a time.
The rear wing of the Elam is screwed in and fixed. It looks like it can be slotted to be adjusted.
I already boxed it back up, but I'm pretty sure the cowl is fiberglass.
Both the UL-1 and Elam come with radios. They can not be purchased without them.
UL-1 motors and esc's will be in stock soon, along with other parts.Steven Vaccaro

Judging by the picture, the front sponsons on the UL seem very flat...it will be fast but I wonder about rougher water and how that front will handle it....I could see a lot of sponson dancing...wider is certainly better with sponsons like that.
The tub being wider will create more lift in the transom.
The motor on the EL is only 1500 KV vs the 2050KV the UL has...big difference...almost 8,000 rpm at 14.4v
Should be some fun racing with these. You do not see many factory RTR boats without some Electronic boxes to help keep things dry. I hope the noobs realize the issues if they have water getting in the hull from the cooling coil. I also do not care for hoses running thru a hull without fittings. I bend alum from the transom to the motor and then use short pieces of silcone.
It will be a hit...already is. Mike did a great job.Comment

I really didnt look that close because I didnt have much time. The Elam I looked at was being sold to a local customer, that wanted a closer look. So I took the liberty to snap some pictures. The red UL-1 will be my personal boat.Steven Vaccaro

The BJ26 motor, while part numbered as a 1500 and listed as a 1500KV motor... actually tests (using an SV27 ESC) at 1680KV... That's real KV using a 4S1P Elite 4500mah pack...
Very similiar numbers are generated from the HiMax 3630-1500 motor as well... which is not at all suprising...Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

Good info, Darin. Thanks for sharing. So I guess the Ul/ammo motor is accurate at 2030 KV? Can you give us the thrust and numbers on the Ammo motor?
Still a good differnce in rpm but I do like the 6 pole structure in the UL motor. Not sure the Pro is 4 or 6 pole but I think it is 6 as well. 6 pole seems easier on the ESC and power systems.
Only other thing I noticed was a butt seam of the Pro vs the shoebox design of the UL.
...besides the major hull diffeences and motor the UL will certainly be faster top end. How will it handle racing conditions vs the pro is yet to be seen.
As Paul P always said...I am either in first place or upside down. He raced hard...WFO all the time. He won plenty.Comment

Very true. I am happy to hear the ESC in the UL is doing a great job pushing some darn big props. We need more ESC options out there for good set ups.
Anyone know the max volts on the ESC? Is 4S max? Also, will it run fine on 3S? I think my kids' boats will now start running 3S and I will run 6S for my bigger stuff with lower KV motors.Comment
