Oh this thread. Its like meandering river.

Travis I have to interject. You actually believe that some videos on YouTube with GPS is helping market boats? Come on man.

Mike, if you get to MI at some point get a hold of these guys. Larry's Performance RC. Might be worth a day trip. Larry's shop is as big as a Bed Bath and Beyond. Most weekends there are at least 100 people in the store at one time. Exposure exposure exposure.

They move a ton of product. I guarantee they'll want to shelf them for you. These boats will sell themselves. Boats that just look good sell all the time without any descent performance at all. If these perform that will become evident pretty quick.

I had to go back through my posts to see where I said that. I didn't find me saying that so I'm not sure where that came from. I remember saying something about the fact that down here in south Louisiana we can run boats almost year round. You hit the nail on the head when you said exposure. That's what I do. Like I mentioned the 34" mono that Keith sells. I helped get the word out. The fact that I got the boat in the 90's was just icing on the cake to add with its good looks. Many times I've seen in this thread "but how does it perform?" And you yourself said it more than once. Isn't speed a factor too? When s big company advertises how fast a model is, do you really think for one second they go to a event with it s measure it across a set of timing lights? No. Sorry. They don't. What do they do then? They gps it. Ask Raphael at proboat. I talk to him often and I know this for fact. I also know speed sells. That's why it's advertised. It says it right on the box on pretty much every one of traxxas products. They seem to be quite successful and if that speed posted on the box of their product didn't help sell more products they wouldn't go through the troubles and market as such. How can you argue with facts? A gps is accurate as long as your using a good one, and that's the bottom line. It's a very useful tuning tool. Many times I've used it to dial in my boats and while picking up speed I was able to lower amps. MOST people in this hobby couldn't give a crap how fast a boat goes through the traps but they do enjoy changing props and tweaking it and guess what....checking speed with Gps. And come to think of it, my YouTube videos might not sell boats but my build log of boats stays full and I have people asking me to build them boats all the time. And guess what comes up in the conversation......the speed they want it to go.

This gps argument will never die, I get that. But really how ludicrous is it to think that the only way some of you "experienced" guys accept a speed of a boat is to run it through the traps? It's just silliness to think that way. Do you go run your vehicle throng the traps to know your surely cruising 70 on the interstate? I mean your speedo says your doing it, but why trust that?

You guys always preach about how we shouldn't bash other members and people in the hobby but yet in the same same posts I've seen the same people preaching that bash gps runs. Really? There's a word for that, hypocrite. You think there isn't other people reading this thread and other thread that's aren't picking up on that? When people say things like this it makes me want to get out of this hobby. As a matter of fact I've really been contemplating getting out of this hobby. All the haters and bs is just getting old. I'm realizing more and more why so many people have come and gone here.

I told him I'd buy it if I liked it, which I probably would have anyway. You know, helping him out like I did when you started selling your 34" mono, and I got nothing from you for free nor did I expect it. You say that putting the boat in an outside party's hands won't help....well I sure did have a hand in helping you sell some of those 34" mono hulls didn't I? Deny that if you like, I'd expect that from you. Same reason you tried to get me to buy your 39" mystic (free help for you, you don't mind taking that do you, well I have a distaste for that) and help get the word out on it too, which I declined for reasons you know why. Let me say this, I enjoy helping people as much as I can, but is it wrong to expect a little something in return for my help in a situation like this? I've tested things (including boats) for companies before and when I did I usually got a free whatever it is I was testing in return. Being mike isn't a big time company, I didn't expect the same in return from him. I expect a bunch of smartass comments (what your good at) from you, but I'll disappoint you this time and not entertain it. My retort is over, have fun with it and ruining this thread some more.
I have to add that Travis has been a customer has been a customer of OSE for a long time purchasing well over 40 times and never once asked anything for free.

              NOW as to this Thread.....
Let get back on track. There is some good stuff in here with some off topic stuff. Please lets get this back to ProMarine and their boats.

This thread from the start was to find out if the new offering was a race boat or just another box art boat like a King of Shaves. Pretty, marketable, probably fun, not quite a race boat. Doesn't sound like that is the case with these. We'll see. I do know this, when I race..............nobody cares what my GPS said. "Oh you went 80mph? Sweet! Did ya win?" Top speed claims likely do sell boats but only if they are on shelves. It's possible I'm underestimating that. I just don't care personally. Most oval racer types don't. My BK Cat for LSO was the fastest one I owned..................going straight. Didn't translate to podium finishes for me.

Mike, a personal offer from me. If you decide to go the hobby store route, track me down. I can help with that in the Metro Detroit area. No strings attached. No freebees expected. I like the idea of there being a new player in the boat market. I want that to happen. Also, when the boats start showing up on our pond I'll help whoever is racing them get the most out of them. Same as we try to do with all of our guys. Accept for those Spartans boats. Danged things are hopeless.

Oh, one last thing. A 9 year old racing and winning! Please please please bring him up for the Michigan Cup this summer. Nothing brings out the grins harder than watching the kids play.

Video is private, can you change it please so I can see it run. (just because I like watching videos of model boats).

The guts of this is so far that there is a new, fantastic looking boat on the market. It is new and I am sure that it will be a race winner, and fast in the hands of serious racers, but that will take a little time and patience. knowing how much time and effort it takes to scratch build a single boat, bringing something to market is an appreciable effort. Well done Mike, I am sure that this will do well.
As most racers know, it is not just the fastest boat that wins. A boat that is consistent and driven well is more important. "To be first, first you have to finish", and a dead or upside down boat has no chance.
To see a youngster win in competition is just awesome. That sort of thing has got to be a great encouragement not only to the lad but also others, and this hobby needs it. Well done!
I guess at times a bit of ego comes through in these forums. Personally I find the slagging of others doesn't go down well, encouragement however is great.
I look forward to thread from someone who buys one of these boats, tests it, mods it and races it.

No wonder Tyler is boat crazy. Bring him to a shop like this and he'll go nuts! Even I get a rise at seeing that many boats at an rc shop. Crap, I'm lucky to see one or two at any LHS near me.

Now it just needs some promarine boats beside all those Lucas oil boats.

As soon as I can find an organ that works well enough to sell, I'll get one of these boats. I'm not complaining about the price, its just that in Canada anything from USA is at least another 25% up here.
