    experimental thoughts on a 26" shallow V

Currently I have a boat that comprises of an old shallow v hull made by SHG Marine bought at some show many moons ago. At the time I was young & impressionable, now Im older and still impressionable. By that I kinda mean that my dad finished the boat off for me a few years ago. I have since taken out the graupner speed 700bb turbo that was in there, and am awaiting the 2nd motor that will be replacing it - a water cooled brushless item. The one that replaces also being brushless was supposedly rated for a 30A esc with a 3s lipo battery. I had borrowed a 3s lipo briefly, as a min after being in the water the esc died! It did run quite nilcely with teh stainless steel prop however.
One question I have to people is this. The top of the boat is made from thin plywood as that's all my dad had at the time available. Would I have any kind of advantage if I replaced it with plasticard? I changed the hatch cover with plasticard, and that seems to have worked out ok, it does have a slight leak somewhere. No idea where though.
